Anyone watch this DVD? Curious what you thought... both on the advice and Peter Wardell as a street guy in general.

I have it. It is good to me. But when comparing it to Kozmo's - Tales of the Streets and Cellini's - The Art of Street Performing, I will give it a low rating.
He only performs one act. It takes him over an hour to get a crowd together (watch the shadows change from the sun). Usually other performers do several acts in 10 - 20 segments. |

I watched this one evening when my dad came over to visit. He made the same comment that Dynamike made: "Why's it take him so long to do the show?"
My answer: "Cuz he's a master at street performing". Now, I don't really know what the textbook definition of Master is...but, keeping a crowd ENTERTAINED for an hour with only 3 effects is at least a high-level journeyman. A draw can last longer than just getting the first 3 people to stop. If it's segmented (incrementalized?!?!) correctly, then there's still plenty of magic/fun in the first bit for the people who show up a few minutes into the show. If you know what to watch for then I think this DVD has a lot of gold in it. I bought it, watched it a dozen times, and then traded it to a friend for his Gazzo DVD. Back then, I was thinking to myself, "OK, I learned his act...now this DVD is worthless to me"...boy was I wrong. The true value of this DVD is that you watch a guy draw a crowd, form an edge, keep them entertained, and work a big show in a SLOW, professional manner...he also demonstrates how to re-tool a big show (any big show if you follow his example) to a sidewalk show and then to a trade show. I've street performed many times with the Cups & Balls as a finale and my shows usually run 20-25 minutes. I just don't have enough experience/ability to keep an audience entertained for any longer than that. Pete makes the show BIGGER, TIGHTER & last LONGER with his personality, crowd management skills, experience. Watching that closely and learning those secrets is what I'd do if I still had this set. |

A great DVD set. Not much I can add that hasn't been said but I would put it up there with Cellini's and Kozmo's DVD's. He had a few great quotes I wrote down about crowd managment and magic misdirection, just wish I knew where the notebook is...
THis is what a corcle show looks like!! As far as his crowd build, I know enough folks who have seen him to know he takes all the time he wants to draw a crowd. If your ever in New Orleans watch Dante. Long build and one of the best shows you will ever see. He is even mentioned in all three of the DVD's. His show runs 45 min. to an hour. Just my two pennies |

One thing you got to remember is that he working the piazza in Covant Garden. The biggest pitch and by far one of the hardest to work in London. It is a popular tourist spot but it is a slow build. This is not the magic corner where you got magicans back to back doing ten all twenty min slots. This is names out of a hat and you get a one hour slot.
