This isn't a conventional Chop Cup routine. I've only had the sequence down for about a month. I should be smoother. You may recognize this as a blend of one in the hand two in the pocket and Chop cup. You may not.

I couldn't click on this thread fast enough when I saw it.
Great job! Once again, you've created something that breaks the popular format for cup routines. I am not as familiar with common chop cup routines, but from what I've seen in your 3 cup routine, I can tell that you're doing some pretty unique stuff with this. As far as smoothness, in terms of technique, I didn't see any room for improvement. The pacing, as far as patter and timing between effects, could maybe be a little more tight. Not faster per se, but perhaps a little more of a smooth flow. The routine is quite straight forward, but maybe even a slight explanation during the first transposition would give a clearer idea of what to look for. Once the idea is established, you could run with it as is. Beyond those minor suggestions, I think you've got something really great cookin'! Keep it up. -Miles |

Magicians might like it and want to follow it - However -
In my opinion - that is the same as Max Malini as it was written about in the Malini book - the story was Malini was watching a magician do a long cut and restore rope routine - to confusing - confusion is not magic - just vanish the ball - produce it - and load - that is enough. I hope this helps.

Wow, I liked that a lot Kent, it was great fun to watch.
I am curious about the final load, what kind of balls did you use? Where they Crocheted balls or some kind of sports balls? What size? Keep up the good work |

Glenn's probably right. Don Alan, the acknowledged master of the chop cup had a very straightforward routine, short sweet and simple. For performances in front of a lay audience I'd definitely do a standard routine.
I hope to refine the patter, which is NOT up to even my standards yet. I think clearly defining the events better will make for a better presentation. I did want to share some less-often used techniques with by brethren and sisters here. Perhaps someone can take one of these ideas and make up a clearer routine. Keith, the loads are crocheted and supplied by Brett Sherwood. I'm going back to smaller load balls. I think size doesn't matter, in this case. To the rest of you . . . and Keith, I thank you. |
