This is what I've come up with so far:

Have people blow up balloons and tie them to the spectator's shoes, so when I remove the chair and board, it appears the balloons are holding him/her up.

Attach a chain to the board near the person's feet. I pull the chain up and hold it and then remove the chair, so it appears that I'm holding the person up. Then I hand the person the chain and I walk away.

Or I (somehow) accidently knock the chair out from underneath the person's feet and then panic as if that wasn't suppose to happen, and I then hold the person up and have moments where I let go, not knowing that I let go, get the picture?

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all of those that provide input.

Hi Kasper,
I had that idea as well with the balloon, but never tried it. I also came up with an idea to redo the "gaff," so after the kid is off the board, you pop the balloon and the board falls. Don't even know if it could be done but it would sure look nice.

I did come up with patter, asking the kid if he had on his "Air Jordon" tennis shoes. I like the balloon idea best.

Have a Good One,
Don

I like the chain idea, gives it a nice twist giving the chain to the spectator, nice thinking.
The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science. Whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead, and his eyes are

Are you using a hoop with this trick, or a volunteer from the audience? If you are, if she has a boyfriend/husband in the audience you could ask them if they're suspicous about her and if they say no, you can say,
"Well, I'd be suspicious about a girl who has no visible means of support." Don,

How about giving them a glass of water to drink and telling them that it is "liquid helium", or "pumping them up" with a bicycle pump? "You are going to float but first we have to <clap> PUMP YOU UP!"

These are all great and funny ideas. I saw a magician perform this and at the little girl's feet sat a mechanical parrot flapping his wings very fast and squacking out a recording of "hurry up and finish the trick... she's getting heavy." One lady laughed so hard she had to excuse herself and one gentleman almost lost his lunch over his coughing so hard that his face was red and almost choked. I laughed till I had tears in my eyes. I wish now I had asked him where he got his bird prop. It is still the one trick that is probably one of the funniest routines I have seen in family/comedy magic.

The chain part is great! Brilliant piece of comedy and mystery!
