I found this link while using Google. I do private tarot readings and it's got me thinking about HOW to keep those customers for life. There is some really interesting ideas in the article. I want to get to the point where I am doing mostly ALL business by referral only ( I know that's very ambitious ),for me..I think that I need more courage in asking for those referrals and having the attitude that I am deserving of receiving new business ( something I think I am lacking in ).
I know that I can give a good reading, but most of time time I never ask for the referral directly, but tell the sitter that if they have any friends that are interested in a reading, please let them know about me. Any advice you can give me would be of help, or..books that you can recommend on subject would be great too. Anyways here's the link.. http://www.smallfuel.com/blog/entry/10-c......clients/ Rick~

Rick, awesome link. I think I speak for everyone else here when I say that content kicks butt.
As far as the customers for life, these aren't the best ideas, but just a few I came up with after reading your post: Long Distance Mini-Readings This could be accomplished in two ways. First, get their name, email, birthday, and email them a monthly or bi-weekly mini-reading. Instead of a full reading, just do a more short-term (based on the Span or Horseshoe layout instead of the more in-depth Celtic Cross layout). The second way to do this is online. On your website, they fill out their info and it emails it to you. Then you can have a custom page with the layout and mini-reading. This could be as simple as a picture taken of the real cards with a digital camera, or more in-depth with an online web-app that shows the cards and are clickable. Referral Gifts You're probably already doing this since you are 100% referral based, but giving things to your referring clients as a thank you is always good. Perhaps you could do a free handwriting analysis for them. They can fax or email you a scan. I know this isn't exactly Tarot and I don't know if you want to branch off in this direction, but handwriting analysis is always something they'll treasure since it is so personal. I've always felt palm reading and handwriting analysis were the two most personal forms of this field due to their direct, tactile connection with the person. 20 Percent Bonus Gift For your top 20 percent clients, or top 5 percent (I don't know where the cutoff would be for you to make this profitable). Give these top clients a copy of their last reading in the form of a framed and matted gift. Use the real cards, along with a nice printed parchment sheet in the frame, describing the basics of the display. Of course, your name and info are signed at the bottom of that parchment in the frame. Then it becomes a GREAT conversation piece since it will be hanging on their wall for their guests to see. Hope this gets your gears turning! Scott |
