Yes you could indeed daghank but the photos which are included are meant to be modern day reproductions, which tell a story on the back, relating to whether or not that particular person 'Survived' or 'Died' the sinking of the Titanic.
If you decide to buy this effect, go onto the 'White Star' forum for some great additional ideas. Paul Mc.

Wow whats cool about this effect is all the good ideas people seem to come up with! Smartboysports I'm with you on this. I mean how many people have even seen or heard of these kind of photos anyway? What a great effect though.

One of the best purchases I made last year.
Hoodrat, you're brilliant. I'd like to see you serve dinner first, then mention where the recipe came from just before you do the final reveal. I wonder if the food would sit well, though. It'd creep me out.

I don't want to have this thread stray away from the subject, but am looking at an effect that I might want to use, and could use some input.
I use a dated coin, and fountain pen as my markers. However, I'm curious about a skeleton key effect called The Borden Key by Bruce Kalver. It can be purchased direct or from Hocus Pocus. Brief: The key is held by the chain and is held over each suspect envelope. Suddenly, over one of the envelopes, the key begins to rise as if repelled by what is inside the envelope. Is anyone familiar with this trick?? If so, can I use it with White Star and have it work with a photo? -Assume I'd have to change things. I'd love to have the key as my marker instead of the coin, and than freak them out by having the key identifying the person who it belonged to Any input on the Borden Key would be appreciated. Thanks |

I use my Whitestar with a haunted key and it really works great! I do the key after all the cards are down. It's like a 2 for the price of 1 effect and it ties in real nice.

I went to Diamond's Magic here where I live and purchased White Star. have yet to preform it for anyone, but have memorized the people I need to. I think I read here, SOMEWHERE, that there is a White Star Forum. Any help finding it would be great!

What are the possibilities of using this 1 on 1?

I've used it one on one, when you learn the concept, you won't have a problem translating it to work with one spectator.
We also carry WhiteStar and are in England Best, D.

The first time I tried it was on my wife and she was impressed.
That says a lot and it worked ok for 1 person. Basically one person picks the 2 piles. Eric |

I work in a bar named Tradewinds in a hotel, and it has a nautical theme.
My story has me getting a chill each time I walk into the bar, I went to a psychic that told me I was a bartender on a ship in a past life, I do the effect, then reveal it was the Titanic on which I worked . . . It goes over big and gives people the chills ! ! ! I'm very happy I bought this. |

A few years back I went to a Titanic exhibition, and bought a piece of coal salvaged from the Titanic. It makes a nice addition to the theatre.

Jim Critchlow has a new effect in the pipeline but it is a closely guarded secret at this time. There was a thread on the Café somewhere with a link to the demo teaser. Can anyone remember the name of the effect?

Dated 1st June 2009 (She lived not far from me in a nursing home)
The last living survivor of the Titanic, ÂMillvina Dean, has died at the age of 97 in Southampton after catching pneumonia. As a two-month-old baby, Dean was the youngest passenger on board the giant liner when it sank on its maiden voyage with the loss of more than 1,500 lives. (The last American survivor, ÂLillian Asplund, died aged 99 in 2006.) |

What are some of the approaches folks performing this use to help mask or cloak the method?
If it is OOTW, the back and forth switching is very loud in saying what is going on. how are you folks cloaking it and making it less obvious?

I recently bought the white star and I have been performing it to friends and family who are quite used to me doing tricks. Their response has been amazing. It's something different and because it's so simple - it's hard for them to figure out how it works. My husband said that presenting the photos randomly is suspicious. He thinks it's better to simply show them in turns. You who have it, know that this requires preparation, but it seems to work well. After all, they are photos not cards that need to be suffled
