Any other tricks the appearing candle can be used with? Is there a Candle Through Balloon available? If anyone has tried floating a Fantasio I'd be interested in hearing how it went.

There is a candle through arm out there.
If you're looking for a floating effect to combine with the candle, Kevin James' Floating Rose might be a good one. The set up requires an anchor point, and a candle stick is perfect. Produce the candle and set it in the holder while making the moves needed to get set for the floating rose.

Its a bit limited but you can do the following ...
* appear another candle * appear a multiplying candle from the flame usng a piece of flash paper and then multiply it. * appear a silk from the flame using a piece of flash paper * appear a ball from the flame with the help of a piece of flash paper and proceed with the multiplying balls routine * appear a card fan from the flame with the help of a piece of flash paper *** please note that the flash paper can be stuck onto the object that is going to appear. Just let it ignite using the candle flame. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I already use a match pull to light flash string for previous effect. Using the extra step of lighting a candle to then light flash paper may not flow. I really want a stronger justification for making a candle appear.
I currently have this: Lapel rose to silk. White candle appears from red silk. Disolving silk knot around candle... At this point I'd like to do a larger trick using the candle. Candle through balloon would be perfect if the effect exists. Lit candle even better. Pop the balloon with the flame to validate the items and close the illusion (Dove appearance if had). Can you suggest a method? Could needle through balloon be adapted? I need to look into the James Floating Rose. Is it a zombie or I.T. method? I think a zombie gimmick may have legs. My routine already has a red silk in hand. Really has potential. |

I just saw James Floating Rose on Youtube. Obviously not zombie method but good suggestion may be something I'll revisit after playing with the zombie candle concept a little more. |

The zombie candle could have some real potential. The floating rose method will surprise you when you find out what it is.
You would need to extinguish the candle first, but you might also try adapting some of flip stick moves used with wands on the candle. It allows for a number of vanishes and reappears that can be a lot of fun.

An appearing candle can also be used as a vanishing candle. Just reverse the action. Then re-appear the candle again since you still have the silk in your hand.
Hope this helps. |

I find when trying to make the appearing candle vanish it won't close without a few stops and twists along the way. Any suggestion?

Try loosening the candle first by twisting it the other way. When you are doing it hold the candle with both hands, one near the top and the other at the bottom where the flap is. To loosen it both hands must do a twist sulmultaneously. A bit of experimenting will help you identify how much of the twisting you need to loosen it.
When it is tight it won't close smoothly but when it is loose it goes all the way down without stopping. Hope this help |

This is one reason why I prefer to use a vanishing candle. I find I have much more flexibility in what I can do with it. I can produce it and vanish it easily. If I want to have it in a holder, I can place it in one and leave it there until time for me to do a vanish or transitional sequence. You can also use a small candle ring to keep the vanishing candle open and can then twirl it around or handle it as you would any candle. Opens the mind up to various possibilities.
