Nipps, you should definitely be involved in the application process, so I do it right...... Harley, you're thinking 5 men high? We definitely need the ladder thing. As far as a date, I haven't figured that out yet. When would be good for everyone?

Keep in mind it's possible Guinness will only allow a 1x1 straight up column stack as in the previous record.

I am thinking this would be a seperate record from the single stack.
As for dates...Set it around Harley's schedule. For me, July is still relatively open. Gwyd |

That's what they told me when I wanted to break Liftos record of 26 pounds with 5 piercings (I can do that on one nipple, BTW). We're talking about a record that doesn't exist yet, so GWR should have no problem with it. I've gone through this process almost a dozen times, so I know what I'm talking about. Erik, your experiences with GWR sounds like a bad one and is not typical of what I have had and others that I know who are record holders. Have you ever been to a GWR holders club? Todd (Ray), I will be more than happy to liaison for you with this endeavour. E-mail me and I'll square everything away for you.

Could do four one way, three 90 degrees to that, two perpendicular to that, one at another 90, and a stander on the top, totalling 11.
My only concern about a public forum was someone taking the results of our brainstorming and scooping us, but I suppose that's unlikely. If it matters at this point, July is pretty well shot for me.

I did a five stack with the Discraceland Family Freakshow and Heather Holliday a few years ago, the beds were only one sided. Instead of a cider block we broke a piggy bank on top. Very scary, and very fun. Would love to do it again!

My current thinking is layers of two, with top-stander.
I'm swamped at the moment. July would be the earliest I could do it. Yes. We should check with the book people. I'm sure, for example, that since that group used 6" nails, we couldn't use 4".

Who's volunteering to be the bottom of a 5+ stack with all the trimmings? Has anyone done the math on this?

Regardless of who is on the bottom (harley?), I'm sure the weight of the beds would not be an issue, so they could be made of whatever light material possible.

[Snark on] Yep, that sounds mathematical to me! Just pile it all together and see what gives first, Harley's ribcage or the floor. Up next, Harley Newman swallows 107 swords at once! While balancing 17 volunteers (and 16 double-sided bed of nails) on his chest! While laying face down over boiling lava![Snark off]

I never said anything about mathematics.
I was simply stating that the beds can be made lighter than normal, therefore making the stunt a bit more doable. When I wrote, "I'm sure the weight of the beds would not be an issue", this was regarding the fact that the weight of the beds would not be an issue for the record. I'm assuming Harley would be on the bottom because of his previous experience with lots of weight on him. Excuse me for speculating.

Don't get me wrong people, I think Harley walks on water too. I just figure he's smart enough to freeze it first.
Freak, whether or not you mentioned mathematics, I did. And you directly replied to my post. Therefore mathematics is/was directly implied in your answer even if it's left unmentioned. Therefore, the snark. Harley, godlike though he may seem, really is just an old man reliving his youth, and getting more bang than most of what's left of his aged breath. And regardless of how many calcium pills he swallows each day, his bones are still as grey as his hair (and mine), and his lungs can only inhale on so much oxygen when sat on by 1200lbs of shifting weight. So strange as it may seem to all you foot worshipers, mathematics & physics really is called for. So I say again: Has anyone done the math on this yet? Just asking..... |

Chance, if I was directly responding to you , I would have used a quotation or addressed you by "name". But that's beside the point.
Again, please forgive me for speculating! Gwyd, I think I've got a source for cold lava. B.

Chance, you young whippersnapper, you're barely out of diapers!
I'm thinking geometry and physics. And 1200 has been a regular working weight for me, for a looong time. Do I have an ace up my sleeve? Of course. I know exactly how to maximize the stability of the pile, without needing a mob to crowd around. Because we want pictures. Lots of pictures.

So strange as it may seem to all you foot worshipers, mathematics & physics really is called for. I don't think it at all strange. Physics is my friend. I have been trying to figure out exactly what we are talking about in order to run the numbers. Column stack- 2x2x2x2x2x1 Total weight- 2200 lbs (High estimate- Approximately 200 lbs per male. We have at least one if not two females involved, so the weight deminishes drastically) Below is the breakdown of what each layer would have to support- Layer one- 900 lbs each (1800 lbs total) Layer two- 700 lbs each Layer Three- 500 Lbs each Layer Four- 300 lbs each Layer Five- 100 lbs each Pyramid stack- 4x3x2x1X1 5 high including the topper 2200 Lbs total Layer one- Approximately 350 each, although the two in the center would wind up with more weight unless the beds were one piece for the full width, not seperate BON's. Layer Two- Approximately 266 lbs each Layer Three- Approximately 200 lbs each Layer Four- Approximatelr 200 lbs. Layer Five- 0 So...Yes...I did some math. Not perfect math I am sure, but it should be pretty close. Gwyd Cold lava!! Good thinking Brett! |
