That's one that standing alone doesn't wow me, but in the context of a routine has some potential. As Matt pointed out, it's an SEO effect. If I recall, it sells for $70-$80.

Wow that was a TERRIBLE performance. (Shudders) This is based off an ooold idea I saw many a yarn ago in a book. Still a good one tho'.

Personally I prefer ink to goldfish.

I like the basic idea, but to me the presentation looks like somebody is going to fumble a lot to make the thing look smooth.
Here's another question : Could the gimmick be used with other types of drinking glasses ?

No , you have to use the gimmick on the given glass. It is much superior effect than ink to goldfish.

Do you happen to recall which book and if so, do you mind sharing? I might like to tinker with my own version of this as I am working on something now using martini glasses and this might make a nice addition to that, but the champagne flute doesn't go with the martini theme.

This is something I saw performed at a convention and bought as a "toy" for myself to play with.

The "glass" is in fact a plastic champagne flute and the gimmick is made according tot he glass supplied. You may be able to adapt to your own glass once you have bought this item, however a deep glass is more suitable as opposed to a shallow Martini glass.

The illusion in this effect is the addition of liquid, which is essential to make the effect work (this sounds obscure, but I can't say anything more here!).

If you watch this effect and you like it, and think you will use it in your act, you will not be disappointed. If you are just curious about this, then you may find the price a little high.

I wonder if you could by the glass on its own - this seems fragile and needs to be cared for very well. I would imagine if this was to get accidently dropped off your table or from your hand onto the stage, it may break easily.

Can the order of the colors, or the colors themselves be altered with this effect? Also, if I only wanted to make one or two changes, could it used that way? For example, let's say I wanted to go from water to blue, then back to clear water? Possible?

Reagan, a waterproof m****r glass would do that at a fraction of the cost.

Thanks Drew. I have a waterproof mirror goblet that I use in several ways, but it will not do what I need in the routine I am speaking of. I didn't really describe everything in the post above. I stumbled onto this thread and I was just kind of curious. I have a routine where I do a lot of magical things with water, and at the end it changes colors, then finally back to clear. It works fine the way I do it, but I thought if it could improve parts of it that I might buy one of these from Stevens. I use multiple glasses and props throughout the routine, so I don't really know if it would help me or not, but I am always looking for ways to improve my routines.

The order of the colors may be changed in the routine.
As for making your own colors I am not sure, but I guess you would be able to find the necessary something to make up your own gimmick using the existing one as a guide.

There are "ice cubes" available which can show a constant colour, or an ever changing colour. Maybe adding a couple of these into a glass of water would have a nice "colour change" effect?
The type of thing I am talking about are available at cocktail/bar supply stores.

I think its crazy awsome,Ive done for 20 people and I just did it at a corporate gig as part of my opening for about 200 people. it kills it so visual.

I have not used this in performance, but fool myself practicing!

I have the Fujiwara Ball (also from SEO) and that holds the silks which can then be produced in order to make the colour changes.
