If this is discussed elsewhere, please point me in the right direction! I couldn't find it in my searching.

Browsing through the forums, I'm finding tons of acronyms. Ones like TT, IT and ITR I was able to decipher. Others, I woudn't be able to begin to guess at!

The two parter, then; Are these only acronymized to preserve trade secrets (similiarly to how I've seen fuels written as w---- g-- and k-------) or is it just a shortening so they don't have to type what they mean out?

If the latter is true, is there a list of these? Or possibly could someone define some of the most common ones here?

I greatly appreciate the help. I feel like UberNewb today!

Your first guess is correct. To preserve secrets.
Since I am new here, I don't know if it is proper to "spill the beans".
I would like to know also, if someone who is new to magic and have never heard of TT, ITR, C/S, etc. How is one to know what is being discussed?
Or is experience the criteria for knowing the "codes"?
Every once in awhile I see one that stumps me for a bit.
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

There have been several glossaries posted to the board to define these, but they generally get removed. The whole purpose in using them is to keep from exposing secrets in the public forums. Once you reach 50 posts you can access more of the forum where secrets can be, to some degree, discussed.

Reading the forums a while, and having an increasing knowledge in magic from study of some texts like Tarbells or Mark Wilson's Complete Course in magic and you will soon be able to associate the abbreviations with the things they stand for.

I didn't know the 50 post rule! I guess I'll just have to stay active and wait for it to all slowly be revealed.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Now I'm curious what C/S means...

There is of course this thread that can be found by using the search function with the keyword "Acronyms":

If a moderator is reading this and considering deleting that thread for reasons of exposure, please consider moving it to secret sessions, possibly adding a sticky bun. Some people (not me) put in a fair amount of work on that thread.

dio da goat, You will see an entry called CSC which is the same as C/S.

Idiot me I was searching words like "glossary", "keywords", "definitions" but wasn't smart enough to search for the word that I myself used to describe the topic.

I have to be careful... my newb is showing.

Thanks for the point-to molsen!
