Mark spoke and came across very well. Sheila looked beautiful. Joe played his role perfectly...especially with the fire extinguisher.
As always with them....a job very well done! Kevin

It was fantastic.
I really enjoy seeing escape work on television that isn't: Oh no! Will he make it?? *poof of smoke* HE'S IN THE AUDIENCE!!! *queue Peter Gabriel music and dramatic lighting*

As is often the case with television, you had the sense of 'being rushed,' but the Cannons made excellent use of the time, giving a great performance.
And yes, this definitely beats out the hackneyed 'Vegas escape illusion disappointingly presented as an escape.'

The Cannons will also be featured on the March 16th episode - performing their full-view "Diamond Plated Steel Box Escape".

Great performance tonight.
My wife made an observation that I found entertaining: Why doesn't he take his shoes off first? He would be more comfortable in the box without them.

Maybe there is a reason not to remove the shoes.

And I think the point is to NOT be comfortable in the box.

Or, not to "appear" to be comfortable.

Mark does a great job of 'filling up' the box...not that he has to try that hard though, that is one tiny box for a guy his size. That is part of the beauty to this escape. The audience is in disbelief that a person can even fit in the box.

As Kevin just pointed out, the reason for not removing the shoes - is to emphasize how small & tight the box is...and it is!
If Mark had removed his shoes, then we'd hear people complaining that he made the escape look too easy & comfortable for himself. Removing one's shoes first, would make the escape a little "sissy", if you ask me. Anyone who has ever witnessed the very small (canvas covered) "Brooks Trunk"...has never seen a performer remove his shoes for that one either. Nice job, Mark Cannon. |

I bet Mark eats less than 30 minutes before he jumps in a WTC, too.
