Hi,
We have had a lot of inquiries from magicians who I think are new to working with a booking agent and therefore we have updated the FAQ on our magicians page. http://www.kazammagicshows.info Thanks. |

He did a great job and we received a fantastic review from the client regarding both the service and the magician! Great job Louis! We received two inquiries from Montreal this weekend and if they decide to go with our service - we'll certainly be in touch!! Thanks. |

Sounds like things are going well,
Your website was created on March 3rd and you are booking shows by March 6th ! If you are getting this sort of response already it sounds like there is definetly a need for this sort of service. Is the Ottawa/Montreal Magic scene really this booming !?! - I just may have to move! Best of Luck JM |

I don't know if you can say that Montreal is booming, but there is a steady stream of clients...
Have a nice day! Louis Jutras |

Hey Daren,
I havent been getting much inquiries for that area. Right now I have reduced my advertising simply because the summer is a 'slower' time for sales and I am quite busy with my schedule. Come this fall we will be cranking up the adverts for the XMAS season. This spring we sold numerous shows all with great success and will do it again in the fall, a peak season. |

Have not got a booking yet or lead through the service yet LOL. Not a bad thing as I opened up the phone book and starting calling places. Try this, call as if you are an agent booking a magician for parties and special events. Act as if you were hired to do this. For one makes the customer think you are a bigger magician and two allows you to comment on how good your "magician" is without sounding cocky! Trust me it works. Also send contact letters out to every bar and eatery telling them a little about what you do and the services you offer. End with something like rates starting at $35.00 and hour. Also your letter should state that you will be doing a follow up call to your letter. You are bound to get some steady weekly gigs. It's a numbers game, the more letters you send out the more possible contacts you will make. Think if it this way, if you send out 100 letters you are bound to get at leist 5 places that want you. It's a numbers game and always remember that!!! No one can market you, only you can do it!!!

Irishghost,
Nothing like starting a business relationship with deceit. What you are suggesting, if not completely unethical, is at the very least extremely sleazy! As a working pro with 25 years experience, I have run across the likes of this technique on more than one occassion. I can tell you that it sours the working world for the decent and the honest performer. Over the years, I cannot begin to count the number of clients that have complained about blatant liars and sleazy practices when it comes to some magicians promoting themselves. More and more we hear, "We won't hire someone based on their promo anymore. We see amazing promo and then a terrible act shows up." (and never mind telling me that "my act is good when I show up," because if it was, you wouldn't have to lie in the booking process) Daren James, do not take Jeremy's advice. Be open and honest with your clients. What you have to lose is respect from clients and the magic community. Daren, this is being typed while on the road performing. We spend more days away from home than at home these months. We have many great clients and contracts worth many thousands of dollars. Recently, some of our esteemed friends in the business have commented that we are probably the busiest magicians in Ontario today. These shows and accolades were earned. They were not "created" to make us sound better. It is not ethical to call and misrepresent yourself and you will end up looking bad for doing it eventually. |

Trust me and do it, there is no difference between you promoting yourself then some magicians wife/assistant making the calls. There is nothing wrong with self promoting, it is getting real easy to book bars and restaurants because places want added value service over their comp. We as magicians do lie on the most part but in an entertaining way! I see nothing wrong with it!

Mr Evans, I also do not know why people who do not know me assume and compare me with sleazy people lol. I have turned down gigs at bars and restaurants when I found out I would be replacing their house magician that charged more and was not as good as me in the bar owners eyes. I also do not know why you would bring up how much you make? What you make on the road is great and you should be proud, but why can't Deren make the same by mass mailing clients, bars and restaurants? I do not wish to get into a fight with you, as I see nothing wrong with my advice. With that being said I will not back down from you either. I have my opinion and you have yours. I did not resort to insults towards you because I am better then that. I guess that's what separates old school from new school. The new school magicians show respect for each other. Now if you will excuse me, I am off to a gig and then back home to my comfy bed lol

Not to say that you don't, but we try to provide the VERY best to clients - like I said, not saying you cannot provide the very best, but for the time being we are using a short list of performers in that area. Perhaps we will use your services in the future. I do like to know who is available and who is out there and that is why we encourage magicians to submit their info. That said, I can personally attest to Rob (Mr.Evans) and know that he is a proven performer who has been there and 'done that'. Rob keeps busy because he built a name for himself and provides high quality entertainment. This is not saying that you do not, but I cannot speak for you because I do not know you. The advice Rob offers is very good and will take you places in the long run. Your method might be good for the present, but you have to ask yourself 'can it last'. Building good relationships with your clients will certainly lead you down the path of success because it will lead to many bookings and referals. |
