Greetings folks,

I'm looking for a review of Joshua Jay's "Pro Carrier." It is described as follows:

"Carry everything comfortably - in your trouser pocket! This high-quality, black leather case lets you carry your cards, coins, rubber bands, business cards and other gimmicks in style. The Pro Carrier has received rave reviews and is in use by some of the industry's top professional magicians. It contains two compartments large enough for a deck of cards or packet tricks, a zippered section that will fit silver dollars and two clear pockets for your business cards. Fitting comfortably inside a trouser pocket, the Pro Carrier is the perfect way to keep your props organized and protected."

Does anyone have and/or use this? If so, what are its dimensions and what do you think of the quality?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

I don't use it, but I have seen magicians that bought it and loved it. Consider it more pocket space because you taking several items out of different pockets and placing it in one while making it organized!!! It is great when you can get something that wilkl benefit you that much. In my case, I don't use it because I carry very few items on me. I would recommend it though. It is also very well made.

I have one and I have used it for about two years it is a great item. It is nice to have all the items that you carry all together. I am planing on ordering a new one mine is starting to look a little worn but I would say it is a good value

I have one and use it all the time, mainly because one of my favorite effects uses two decks, and this holds them. It also holds coins for the matrix, and makes it quicker taking it out of my pocket at night, and keeps them in better shape.

Thanks very much for the information. This is yet another example of the great value this forum is for magicians (and those aspiring to be).

As to the size of the pro carrier: Would you then say it is slightly larger than the size of two boxed poker decks stacked?

Thanks again,
Jim

Slightly, yes, but not much. It has a place for business cards and coins.

Tried to get two decks in it -- no way. But, you can get some thinner items in it, along with the deck. It slips on your belt and displays your business card throught the window on the case.

I bought one at Magi-Fest last year ('02) and carry it with me nearly everywhere. I carry a deck of cards, small packet trick, a few rubber bands, small hot rod, chinese compass, a folding Q and a few business cards. It's very handy.

I was at a Joshua Jay lecture a couple of years ago when he was in Australia.
I didn't buy the the Pro Carrier at the time...I wish I did.
Most of the people there bought it and were very happy with it.

Please forgive my delayed reply. Thanks to all for your input. Symmatrix asked for a link. I saw it on Magic Smith's website. The photo doesn't seem very helpful, but there's a write-up on it. Try this: Joshua Jay's Pro Carrier

It's super cool because it displays your business card in its front window. I keep a deck, coins, business cards, and a few setups for my Bizarre Twist/Immaculate Connection routine.

I have one and I like it a lot, I have a deck, color monte, three silver dollars, a dollar size cent, tow okito boxes, five halves, and two EP, and a crib note in the business card section.

It is stuffed like a sausage.

I got it on eBay from one of the regular magic dealers.

These things are nice. They are well put together and last for a very long time. I don't remember how much I paid for mine but I'm glad I got it.

Are there any other types or carriers? I saw JJ's, and it looked nice. I wish I would have bought one at PCAM 2003!!!!

I just reviewed this item in my review blog at http://www.MagicReviews.blogspot.com

It's a very worthwhile investment.

It's well-made and I find myself using it quite a bit. I'm not fond of the velcro for the belt loop (but then I wouldn't wear it on my belt anyway) but it's otherwise classy. (There's no way it will hold two full decks, however.)
