After watching Demo Videos and purchasing several of the 4 or 5 bill changes out there I ended up using Extreme Burn (EB).
For me, I think the visual and super quick change with absolutely no cover of Extreme Burn (EB) is the best (it's an opinion). Link to Extreme Burn change and the additional "Underground Change": http://www.sandersfx.com/extremeburn.html Below is a starter list that I'm comparing Extreme Burn to. Most use the exact same basic gimmick (correct me if I'm wrong). I think it all goes back to Patrick Page's original gimmick (correct me if I'm wrong). Extreme Burn - same basic gimmick Hundy 500 - same basic gimmick Heiny 500 - same basic gimmick Slow Burn - same basic gimmick Easy Money - same basic gimmick Prophet - I don't know if it's the same gimmick Others if you feel is better than EB - please mention So my question is how do you think (if you do) any of the other "5 Bill Change" DVD's or routines that exist are better than EB and if so where specifically is it better? I've broken down an evaluation/comparison into 3 parts below. 1) Patter or Presentation to give relevance of a 5 bill change (if any is provided) 2) Practical Handling/Display showing front and backs of 5 bills and how natural the Get Ready setup is. 3) The actual 5 Bill Change and how it visually looks magical to you and how impossible it looks to the audience (which is shock value or is strong to them). Let me address evaluation part 3) first. I personally think EB has the best visual change and is the strongest because when using the "Underground Change": - only one hand can be used (which makes it look really open and fair) - the bills are fully laid out so that the full bill can be seen - the change can happen with absolutely no cover - ZERO - and with just one hand holding it, right in front of the audience - you can't get any simpler and cleaner than that - then you can immediately spread and show both side of all the bills - that's just my own opinion on what looks good and strong So, if you feel that there is a better visual change or a stronger change that isn't on my list please let me know and I'd be curious to see how it looks and compare for myself. From the list that I have up though personally I feel EB looks the best so you'd have to POST SOMETHING NEW that is NOT already on my list. Thanks. Looking at evaluation part 1) & 2) is really what I'm after. Do any of the other routines or DVD's have a better handling or presentation or more natural "Get Ready" phase than EB (since most of them use the same basic gimmick)? Maybe, that is why some people say another DVD or routine is better than EB sometimes. But if the basic gimmick used is the same as EB than can't I just apply the 'better' handling or the "better" get ready, from another DVD and combine it with an Extreme Burn change and make Extreme Burn even 'better' so to speak? Let me know what you think is best and why. Thanks! |

I still wish I could find a bill switch that would work smoother with canadian currency. EB is close but not perfect.

I have just started with EB. Offers more challenges in learning but is fun. It's great, but I think 4 bills rather than 5 might have advantages as Sanders noted. I don't think the basic/earlier changes are greatly inferior...the audiences will love them all if they are well done and part of a good routine. Has anyone tried 3-D Cash (Mark Allen)? I have it but want to work out a routine for it, and do not think it offers distinct advantages...but experience will tell. Basically, you can change and show three different denominations. The added something to EB allows for some swift changes that are not as likely with the other changes. Again, whether this makes a difference for the audience depends on the performer and venue methinks.

Thank you all for your comments.
Is there a better handling from another 4-5 bill change that has a more natural get ready for Extreme Burn (meaning no folding)? I know Hundy 500 and Heiny 500 use the same gimmick. Maybe they have a better handling or better get ready which can be applied to Extreme Burn? If not does anyone know any alternate handlings to get into the 'get ready' position that they think is more natural (for example skipping the folding of the bills and then re-opening them flat before the bill change)? You can also PM me if you need to. Thanks |

Yeah I am from Canada too and there's a big colour change when I change from our old green $1's (now replaced with coin loonies) to blue $5's.
I had to clip/cut about 1mm off the edges that are showing and trim down the get ready bill a tiny bit too (tip from some other post string on this forum) and it's easy enough to manage now. just keep your hands tilted up a bit when it's showing and the angle and your hand will cover it. also use the other bills to cover the top when you spread them two in each hand (4 bills) or three and two in each hand (5 bills). |

EB is by far the best IMHO!!! I do this trick for myself mostly! I am surprised it doesn't get better reactions. I even use $100s! I have it down flawlessly with great patter. I've been reviewed to find out! Just not sure why people are not blown away. I get more reactions from magicians really.

Here's my experience with EB. One week ago I went to a seamstress to get a topit installed. I encountered this little old lady who owned the shop, she had never ever seen or installed a topit. I told here I was a magician, I give her the instruction (Ammar Topit.) She told me she would call me in a week when she was done. Well today I showed up and her daughter and grand daughter were there asking what the topit was for, and wanted to see some magic. I did CMH and when I went to go pay I had EB with me, I use 5 white twenty's IOU's and change them into 5 real twenty's. They flipped out. I let he grabbed two of the twenty's to pay for it. They were really impressed with EB. I found if you use it this way you get better reactions.

Hi Zaprig1! I'm not sure why you don't get a better reaction to EB. I find that it is one of the best things I do when it comes to response. People (especially the ladies) go nuts when the ones change to hundreds. Keep working with it. It really does create "wonder"!

I just came across this Doc Eason clip of Extreme Burn. His presentation is especially applicable in these difficult economic times.

Thanks Sammy. I performed it more the other night, and really slowed down the presentation. It seemed to really make a difference!

As for Doc's performace, mine is quite similar, but I find two different changes usually ending with the Underground is best. Be careful not to drop bills like he did though. This can be tragic if the back falls out of the gimmick! Luckily this has only happened to me in practice.
