It depends on what you're wanting to do with it...do you want one with the card to wallet feature or just one that bursts into flames?
My personal favorite is the Kaps on Fire Wallet...if I'm not mistaken, it's Jeff McBride's favorite as well. The Jardonnet Premium Wallet is practically the same, but is a "Luxury Edition". I like the Kaps because not only does it have a very nice Card to Wallet feature, but it also allows you to hold the "regular" portion of the wallet freely as opposed to having to hold it open in a special way. |

The problem with most older wallets is they dry out quickly even my kaps fire wallet won't last longer than a single day here in the very dry state of Colorado

I also have the Kaps Jardonnet wallet - and love it. Got it on ebay for $30, and it was brand new!

Are fire wallets safe? I get a worry my little bro will open it and burn himself if I get one.

Looks like the Kaps Jardonnet wallet is the one which is receiving good comments so far.

Having tried various Fire Wallets over the years, I have always rated the El Duco one very highly. It is not the cheapest but I think is the best.
Although sadly El Duco passed away recently his company still makes and sells them.... Here is the link http://www.el-duco.se/start.asp?language......he+World regards Scott |

Rick Haslett has a push button fire wallet. Rick has a demo of his fire wallet on page 3 of his web site.

I can't explain why they are probably safe around your brother without discussing the workings however. The only wallet I have owned is the Kaps Jardonnet and I find it great. |

I find that the Kaps wallet caters mainly to currency that's smaller in size(i.e American Dollars). I've tried putting British currency in the Kaps and it stuck out(but doesn't reveal the secret mechanism though). I did notice however, during El Duco's demo for the product the secret mechanism does look easily noticeable to the layman's eyes. Hopefully its because I know how it works but I can't help but feel it might give the average layman a reason to inspect the wallet. Nevertheless, the way I normally handle layman asking to inspect the wallet, is by saying "I don't give my wallet to strangers" |

All of the latest Jim Pace fire wallets are great. They are electronically activated with a silent button, and are rechargeable.

Hi, I have been a fire wallet enthusiast since the early 90's when I purchased my first fire wallet at Tannen Magic in NYC. Although I'm not sure if they still sell their wallet, it was by far the best "striker" fire wallet I have ever purchased and well worth the $100 I paid back then. I have purchased from Mr. Haslett in the past and was not happy with his products (1996). I have also personally seen his fire wallet and was very shocked at its poor design and workmanship especially for the $125 he is asking for it. If you want the BEST electronic fire wallet on the market today, I would check out Peter Austin's "Fusion of Fire." I was totally blown away with this wallet. The design, concept and workmanship was so good I felt I was undercharged. This wallet has a double value because after you catch your wallet on fire you can then actually remove a credit card, hold it up and it too catches on fire! This is the most innovative, advanced and amazingly designed fire wallet I have ever seen and so easy to use and maintain. Things like the batteries and wicks are so easily replaced its hard to believe. Not like any other fire wallet out there, and I've seen just about every one made in the last 15 years. The wicks come out with only a tug and can be replaced in seconds. Unlike most where they glue the wick or rivet it so it can't be replaced. The batteries pop out and in just like that. And talk about thin? It is literally the thinnest fire wallet I've EVER seen! Almost NO extra thickness to the standard (normal sized) wallet just about everyone uses in real life. I just can't say enough about this amazing product. And talk about a complete package, besides a very detailed video instructional done by Peter himself, he includes an extra set of wicks, 2 sets of batteries, a special tool for removing and installing the wicks and batteries, along with 3 prop credit card replacements. I don't know how he does it and all for UNDER $100! This fire wallet is definitely my choice and best fire wallet on the market today HANDS DOWN.

Attention Magic Community,
Peter Austin's Fusion Fire Wallet is the best I've ever used! I've had and used 5 different fire wallets over the years and Fusion Fire Wallet stands alone as the best. The first wallet I ordered got lost in the snail mail, but Peter sent out another one ASAP. I got great service from his company. Back when I was working with Paul Osborne in theme park shows, I was always replacing my fire wallet due to them malfunctioning and breaking at the wrong time. But Fusion Fire Wallet has held up through many, many shows without a hitch. Thanks Peter, you've given me peace of mind. Sincerely, Rob Boyd, Magicians Impossible Fayetteville, AR |
