I've received and watched the first DVD. Since people are waiting for it I don't want to go into much detail. It's very professionally produced and quite easy to follow. The routines are thoughtfully worked out and very effective. More importantly they are within just about anyone's skill level with practice and the thinking and logic behind each phase is explained in detail. Besides the actual routines themselves, the discussions of timing, hand position, various types of misdirection, and spectator management are invaluable to anyone developing their own magic. Well worth the money.

You will pay a hundred dollars for a single DVD in a four DVD case.
There are promises the other three are in production . . . I'm a cynical old guy but I did send off for it. If you have John Carney's books you know what a raging stud-puppy of magic he is. I think the tricks he teaches on the one DVD I've gotten are worth more than the hundred bucks, easily. His copper silver routine that segues into expansion of texture and then into a lively mouse appearing is sheer genius. Send him the darned money. Do it now! Quit reading this drivel and buy it. You'll be doing his take on the spongeballs by the weekend. I know you will! On disk one are the following. Exchanged, Expanded and Extracted - The coin routine I alluded to. It finishes with . . . Is That a Real Mouse? Coins in the Mist: Tough stuff for you fans of Harbottle, Kam and Neighbors. It looks real good. Off Ring: Offering, a pun, I get it!! Ring off Wand done with a prop you don't have to carry. Current Classic: (Carney's current Spongeball routine) I see copies of Garcia's Spongeball book going for 200 bucks on Ebay. This routine is worth far more than that. Versa Vice If you don't use the Versa switch, it's a darned fine mechanism to learn it. Quit reading this drivel. If you don't gamble that John Carney will make sure you get you the other three disks, you will miss out on the only Video I've seen that I will tell all the magicians I know: GO GET THIS ITEM NOW!!! I received the first DVD at the end of December. It is very interresting. My DVD case was broken during the shipping so they shipped me an other one and I received it one week later.

Just received #2, Spring today. Haven't had a chance to watch it but plan to tonight. To clarify an earlier comment the current sale price for the 4 DVD's is $99. That's not the price for one DVD. The sale has been extended through March. Again, well worth the money.

Four Gone - A bare-handed production then vanish then production from four different pockets of the four aces. And, best of all it's self-working!!!
(Ok it isn't really self-working.) Karate Coin - Looks very clean. Ambitious Aces - More self-working card magic. Matchless - Card to . . . matchbox. Slo-Mo Coins - Several freakin' impossible looking bare-handed coin vanishes. And they're self-working! |

John is at the top of his art and at the top of ours. Respect!...
There is no price to what John is actually offering: not just methods but routining, entertainment, misdirection and close up showmanship at their best. To the people in the café who think or write that I know a bit about magic, I'm confiding that John knows ten times as much. Each of his DVDs is jus a bless. Also John has a way to explain things or moves which makes things always accessible even intimidating ones. Just buy the set, it's a bargain.

I just received 'Spring' but I've only watched the first two effects, but they are great.
I just love his approach to magic, and the way he thinks the moves and presentations through to gain the ultimate response. So for me, the value here is not just the effects themselves, but his insights. His teaching style feels more like a private instruction, rather then "here is how you do the trick". He does seem to emphasis good smooth sleight of hand over gimmicks, which is another aspect I appreciate. It's refreshing to see someone who can perform in such a fluid manner, both verbally and physically. Gee, I think I'm a John Carney fan. |
