I love this routine and I ordered all the dice I need for it (in fact, I found the 4" jumbo die at Marshalls and at TJ Max for $10! I had to do the routine once I found that). I had some questions for those who do this routine:

Does anyone do any other sort of dice sequences with the small dice besides the one Paul Gertner Teaches?

Does anyone have any special loading methods that can be used for a table in a parlor setting that would not hide the 4" die from the audience?

In walk around, does anyone have any other cool loading methods that can be done so people from other tables don't see where the 4" die is hidden?

Thanks!

1. I wish I knew about those dice. are they the beautiful translucent dice or just the cheap plastic ones from ch*na? Beautiful dice are very expensive.

2. I do the routine and there are a few things you can combine it with:
a. sacks dice type routine
b. dice stacking
c. dice matrix or chink-a-chink
(In fact the WGM DVD on dice has one of each)

3. I load from my table servante which is out of view of the audience. Here's a pic.

I did the routine at a trade show and used a lefler table with one of my poachers pouches as the servante. That was better for when I had many people very close.

I've always loved this routine, but have yet to find a way to load that I'm comfortable with for strolling. I know Paul recommended between the knees, but for me, it just wouldn't work.

Unless I strolled with a Lefler table, I can't imagine doing it strolling either.

There are a couple of ways to do it, but they would be very uncomfortable. Pendulum comes to mind.

Discussing the intricacies of this kind of thing should probably go into the secret sessions, though.

They are not cheap plastic. They are made in china but I'm pretty sure they are acrillic (sp?). They are solid yet a few of them had some scratches on them. I love those ideas though. I was planning on making a servante for different reasons but that just gave me all the more reason. Thanks!

Dave

BTW Bill I think you're right this post should probably be moved in secret sessions.

I found two of the 4" dice, one of the 2" die and matching dice on that big auction site last year and picked them up. The cost was reasonable - no one bid against me!
I've been using Abdul's Fez (Eric Lewis) with the effect, so I start clean, but it's basically "Two in the hand, one in the pocket", just like Paul teaches. Abdul's Fez is a pretty obsolete routine these days (IMO), but I love the prop.

I also don't do it strolling, although Paul's intructions on this will work if you are bold enough and not weak in the knees... I'll be looking for the 4" dice as Marshalls and TJ Max this weekend - I can't believe they could be the same quality for that price.
Pendulum, hmmm...

Not so. They have 5 inch wooden dice on their web site. There are also things in their catalog that are not listed on their web site.

I got a pair of 4 inch plastic dice from them about 2 years ago.

Have you considered phoning them or e-mailing them?

Kristian:

Have you e-mailed Kardwell?

I found this link by using google http://www.greatbigstuff.com/4reddice.html

The dice are about $45.00 each. Just one problem. They are out of stock. However, if you get them to put you on their mailing list, you may have a chance at getting them.

Try telephoning Kardwell. On their site it says:

Quote:
Choose from our wide selection of dice including store dice, jumbo dice, cancelled casino dice, and inlaid dice with multi-color spots. These dice are available in sizes ranging from 5/8" to 3-3/4".

Your audience will not be able to tell the difference between a 3 3/4" die and a 4" die.\

Their phone numbers are
Toll-free: 1-800-233-0828
Phone: 631-298-0005
Fax: 631-298-1517

I have found the supply and varieties of dice (and other great stuff) at The Gambler's General Store very adequate. Check it out at http://www.gamblersgeneralstore.com If you ever get to Las Vegas - check it out!

Hollywood Magic has large red dice. You can Google them and give them a call and see what it would cost to ship. I think the retail price was $50 last time I went in.

Ditto - however, Paul's website has the items on backorder right now so I would follow Mr. Palmer's advice until Paul has them in stock.

Those die have been out of stock on Paul's website for at least a year. I got lucky and found 2 of those giant die on ebay last year, along with the matching 2" and 1" die.
