I'm kinda waiting for someone to offer mechanical hands with three slots and coins on levers. Smile
...to all the coins I've dropped here

For those who recommended Daryl's 3 fly I've just watched it and its superb. Will take some practice but looks well worth it.

I have noticed that some 3 fly routines use a shell. Why would anyone want to use a shell when the Daryl gaff free version must be as good as it gets.

:( sorry you lost me with "must be as good as it gets". -JT

JT let me explain, after reviewing my research and looking at Daryl's routine I think from the laymens view and the limited number of slights in this method I cannot see how the trick could be bettered at my stage of learning or what would be the advantage of using a shell in the trick.Of course I am willing to listen and learn from others with more experience than me on this subject and my comments were more of a question than a statement.

Hope this clarifies my comment.

Paul Harris's "Free Flight" is great. Paul uses it as his opener.
The effect is that 3 coins travel one at a time to gather under a card. No palming required. There are, let me think, about three moves used to accomplish the effect, but they're all VERY easy and will definitely suit the beginning magician.

I think Barry's got the point... From the laymen's view... We tend to forget this, and see everything with the magician's eye. You really think laypeople see the difference between all the 3-fly versions out there?

Like Vinnie said above, Please please please not another three fly....

It's that last coin transit where things get interesting. I still suggest going for the Roth - shuttle pass approach and learning a revolve or sweep vanish to manage the last coin for starters. Using a pull to get the trick working standup is a choice as is the topit, sleeving, and yes even a shell when you start to apply billiards type thinking. Though as was pointed out that's more magician concern than a matter of audience interest.

To be fair using a copenetro is probably a darned strong approach for laymen too.

Anyway I'm just not so much a fan of getting convoluted for that last coin transit. Whatever works for you is what counts.
