Coming to this a bit late, but right now, my own top 5 would be, in no particular order:
Rope Routine (Based on Dan Tongs', with a bit of Richard Saunders stuff. Holy Moly, Sankey Prohibition - Cap in Bottle Quick two (sponge) ball routine CMH and into Stargazer. That's a fair variety, with a bit of something to interest most folks. All of these are virtually angle proof, and I'll include a bill switch if the situation allows it. Regards, DCB

Also a late / new comer, my top 5 without cards are:
Ninja rings (in hands, not on table) Rope routine - Tabary / Sanders influenced Bill switch but with autographs (Sankey front row) T&R post it note (Osterlind) Recapped variant (Greg Wilson) I'm working on a sponge routine as it seems to go down well. It's really interesting to see what others favour in the real world. Charlie |

Pete...I'm interested in the "One card trick" (trilogy) you listed..
Where can I find it, please? Incidentally, was reading an old Pat Page book the other evening, and he credited you with a nice effect which he called "The Biro Can" - unfortunately, all cans are ring pulls these days, but the basic idea's great - I'm looking for ways to adapt it...! Thanks! DCB

Deadcatounce... I don't know what the Pat Page reference "biro can" is... I don't have the book. What's the effect? "Trilogiy is available in England. I don't know if any USA dealers have it. You might do a search/ It is a triple prediction that is bulletproof and KILLs.

I usually use whatever is around, but I always try to carry a quarter ], a tt, a spongeball or two. that leaves me open for a bunch of stuff. I learned some cigarette magic for when the situation arises. I'll have to say that CMH is always handy to know, I love to do it, but I save it for when I find some rubberbands laying around.

I originally posted my top 5 in 2002 and I think it's so cool to see how much my tricks have evolved. My top 5 currently are:
1. Sponge Bunnies (I've updated to bunnies since 2002) 2. Chop Cup 3. Kennedy's Mystery Box 4. Skinner's Monte 5. Coins Across using the [ (still on the list!) Those are the top 5 but I have to give honorable mention to The 3 Shell Game, Endless Chain, Card on the Ceiling, and the Card on the Forehead! |

I love this topic and I love close up, so here I go again:
How about 5 effects that do not need tables, that can be done in your hands or at eye level, that fit in your pockets or an apron, instantly resets or resets pretty quickly. In other words, real world magic. Magic for strolling with no surfaces. Can be done anywhere, anytime. I also have a whole card show like this. Standing up with NO tables. Here are the ones I use when I work, no cards: 1. 3 fly at the fingertips and eye level(my version), (not in your palms at waist level) 2. 4 inch linking rings 3. Ring a Ding 4. My version of the Sandsational Rope Routine 5. Sponge balls! ...and, with a pack of cards added, you can entertain a room of people all night! (I also carry rubber bands,a match book, some Porper Poker chips, a dice trick, a paddle trick, and a few favorite gambling themed packet effects) ACE
