I've had a couple of people inquire recently as to how much money Magic Inc will be keeping from this event. I understand how some people could be skeptic about anything of a fiscal nature, especially in these economic times, but Magic Inc. is sending absolutely every penny to Jim. The wonderful cast we've assembled is donating their time and talent, the artist is donating the painting we're auctioning off, and Magic Inc. is donating the space and product for raffles. We're not doing this to make a quick buck, or really to benefit the shop in anyway. We're doing this because it is the right thing to do for a man who has dedicated his life to an art form we ALL love. I wish could say the benefit was my idea, but it was Sandy Marshall's, the owner of Magic Inc and Jay Marshall's son. I asked him if we could donate some product to Frank's Cellini boxes; he said we could and then suggested we throw the benefit. I have an immense amount of gratitude and respect for Sandy, the shop, Cellini, and of course all the fantastic people who are donating their time, money, and talent. Thank you all.
Sincerely, Ben Whiting |

I see two different types of things on this forum:
1. someone tries to doe something nice fore someone else and gets met with rabid skepticism and others piling on to make it even worse. I'm not talking about 12 year-olds. People that know better. 2. And then a company that copies others works and rips off their own best customers for well over $100,000 and all we see are accolades and group hugs. I find both extremely disturbing. I've seen a few posts by those that simply can't help themselves and all it can do is reduce the amount of money Jim will get delivered. Ben, you're a great guy for helping me out, helping Cellini out and not once did I ever question your motives or that of Magic Inc.

As some of you know Sal Piacente will be lecturing tomorrow at Magic Inc. I just found out he will also be at the Cellini benefit tonight and might be giving an impromptu performance!
We will also be auctioning off some select items from Jay Marshall's collection! The oil painting is finished and looks beautiful. Turns out the artist got a hold of a set of someone's (coughcoughmycough)paul fox cups and painted them hope to see you guys there! -Ben |

Any chance we can see a photo of that painting?
