I was thinking about putting more juggling into my magic show, and the chrystal tube came to mind. It uses a 12" plastic tube, and three silk scarves. I was thinking of doing a scarf juggling routine before I do the actual magic trick. The chrystal tube can be bought on ebay for under $20. Do not buy a used tube because you blow into the tube. The P&A silk chrystal tube cost $100, but it's a one time purchase.

I've done a few shows where I start with club juggling, then do a few throws with silks before doing the crystal tube effect. I bought some Dube juggling scarves because magic silks to don't float predictably. However, the juggling scarves don't blow through the tube as elegantly, so I went back to silks.

The effect is a good bang for the buck. It's a nice visual surprise, and gets really good reactions. My version is an $22 plastic version from Magic Geek.

And by the way, what on Earth could make the P&A version $78 better than mine? All of the stuff on P&A silks cost a fortune. Are his silks that much better than anyone else's?

You are right about the control issue, but I will practice it and see how good I get.

P&A silks are the best magician's silks in the world. Peter White's chrystal tube, and his change bags are the best I have ever seen, so yes a $100 chrystal tube is hard to imagine, but if we ever meet I'll show you mine.

I have his mis made Santa, Frankie the snow man, and his mis made flag. My whole show is in one juggling bag, a jump stool, and an aluminum brief case, so I cary everything in one trip.

Hey Al, as I´m sure you know; many, many years ago, a standard number in most juggling shows, was the Two Ball and Glass Lamp Chimney Routine. A Glass Lamp Chimney, is basically your Crystal Tube,.. missus one or two little details.

George DeMott, does a nice little write up of a standard routine in his classic book.,... take his advise,... stick with glass.

p.s.:,... carpet won´t help. Buy a couple of tubes.
