Any idea why I get red coffee cup icons indicating new messages in a thread even though I've already been to that thread and read the messages. It makes it really difficult to check on any new posts.
Thanks.

You may have duplicate cookies. Do a search of your cookie folder for files containing text "themagiccafe.com" and delete anything that comes up in the search. This will remove your cookies and log you out. When you log back in, the cups should start behaving normally.

Thanks, Mary! I think this solved the problem.

Mary B.,
1. In regards to your above example, when I log out, (actually, when I delete all cookies and temporary Internet files and History and then first log back into the Magic Café, I am prompted for my user name but my password is remembered), When I then log back into the Café, ALL coffeee cups are white for me (including those I have read and those I haven't read. It is only after exiting from the Café (but not logging out) and then re-entering later that I now have some red coffee cups and some white coffee cups. And there doesn't seem to be any correlationas to which ones are whie and which ones are red. Lots of sites I never visit (i.e., open and surf) are white. Shouldn't those sites continue to show up as red coffee cups until I actually enter the thread and/or navigate it? 2. Another problem I have is going to a site thread that shows a red coffeee cup, but, upon clicking on the thread and entering it, all the coffee cups in that thread are white!! How can that be? How can I have a red coffee cup indicating new posts in that thread but then no new posts within any of the sub-threads? 3. Finally, when should a thread's red coffee cup turn white? By this I mean: If you have a red coffee cup (indicating new posts) and you click on that thread and find a topic with a red coffee cup [/i]and you click on it and read it[/i], when does the initial main thread's red coffee cup change to white? Also does it make any difference if I decide not to open the sub-thread. If I do not open that sub-thread (i.e., because I'm not interested in that sub-thread topic), will the main tread say red or will it change to white? Thanks for any info to help clear up these mysteries. Mike

Mike, I can answer the easy one for you. When you delete the cookies and internet files, that resets everything and all of the cups will turn white.
When you are out of the Café for a period of time, new arrivals will cause those cups to turn red. The rule is that a red cup means new messages have arrived since you last logged in. You clear the cookies and then log in, it sees that and gives you the red cups for new messages. The main cup will remain red as long as there are posts in the forum that have not been red. When you read a post with a red cup, it will remain red until you either delete your cookies, log out or the Café recycles which is usally about evry 15 minutes.
