It looks like there's more than one maker for Lethal Tender these days -- is the quality of the card and/or coins better with one vs the others? I also have a question about the gaff but can't quite come up with a way to phrase it that doesn't expose.

Most versions do not have a Bicycle back card. They are much more widely available these days, but you pay extra for it. Also, for many versions, the card is what I would describe as unbelievably thick. PM me and I can hook you up with a much thinner card with Bicycle back.
In terms of the coins, a lot depends on which type you prefer. For example, you may want them to match other coins in your routines.

ROYAL MAGIC - Definitely, the best Lethal Tender IMO

The royal magic set has a shimmed bike, but the coin looks like a joke! The coin in the sterling set looks more plausible, IMO.

I agree that a lot of use, the coins tend to loose there luster so to speak. It's a basement bargain trick that anyone can still get mileage out of. - Jason

I agree that the shimmed card in the Sterling set also looks odd, but it's easier to get a more realistic looking shimmed card then a more realistic coin.

I have amazed many people with the royal set... I let them examine the coins, so its not a problem for me... I also rather use a familiar Bicycle card spinningcoin:

I find the Bicycle ones are too thick as well. No snapping action. I like the one that comes with Sterling even though it is not a Bicycle.

I've stopped using the card and now use a PK ring. Never could find motivation for the card in my presentation.

A PK ring is a good choice, and while it may be difficult to find the motivation for using a card, seeing as you probably do a few card tricks, that's kind of the motivation.....you can just leave the shimmed card right on top of your deck, and then use it....

Im not sure this thread needed to come back to life but since it did I will contribute.
The wallet my lethal tender came in has 2 pockets on the card side. one is see through the other is behind it and can not be seen. I leave my shimmed card behind the partition and use the wallet its self for the change. I also keep my wallet stocked with my business cards and let the spectator keep the business card. My presentation is a lot different than the typical lethal tender but Im not going to tip that here. |

Good tip. I have eliminated the "stock wallet altogether. I now load the shim card in my real wallet and use it to make the change. Nobody has ever asked to inspect my wallet. It is a personal item and people would feel strange doing so.

What about combining Lethal Tender with the Raven? Anybody ever try that?
