There's definately a lot to learn from those DVDs, but there are people who do the stack better.

Weapons of a Cardshark Vol 1 and 2 by Jeff Wessmiller (hope I spelled it correctly) is where I first started learning riffle stacking (how to stack for draw poker, texas hold'em, etc). After that it was just practicing on how to make it look natural without too many pauses or obvious looking hold-backs.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Fulves books. I also started with Jeff Wessmiller's dvds. He gives the basic formulas in order to stack for the different positions around the table. DVD 1 is the best for on the table riffle stacking and DVD 2 has some good in the hands culling and stacking techniques. I think they are a good place to get started.

Hi Guys,
Richard Turner offers a number of ingenious riffle stacking techniques on his DVD's. However, for my money his thumb riffle stack is the method I most use for gambing and magical demo's. With a good deal of practice, this could be made to appear seemless, but with less time you still have sound riffle stacking system that passes muster with many audiences. If I was going to sit at a table with a group of chiseled card players and wanted to cheat for the money, then free drop without pause is pretty much the safest way to go. But that involves a years of hard focused practice, not to mention beating the cut especially if working alone. Regards, Paul H |

I thought you might enjoy seeing the triumph shuffle used for culling and stacking on the fly from a shuffled deck.
http://www.mrhypnotist.org/video/glennbi......umph.wmv And culling and stacking from a slug - 12 cards that is 3 sets of four of a kind inspired by Erdnase 12 card stock. Useing the triumph riffle shuffle instead of the Erdnase jog shuffle stocking method! http://www.mrhypnotist.org/video/glennbi......umph.wmv That is 12 cards culled and stacked from a slug in only eight shuffles. I hope this helps.

Only?! By the way, how does "culling from a slug" make any sense? Why bother culling when the cards are already in a slug? |

Just FYI - the answers to most of the questions of using the triumph shuffle to cull and stack - and cull stack on the fly are answered in the book I wrote about the triumph shuffle and on the 2 DVD's I self produced about this amazing riffle shuffle called the triumph shuffle. That was in the classic book the Stars of magic!
However the books I have written on this subject have been out of print for about two years now. Just as the 2 DVD's have been out of stock for the same amount of time. I guess I would say - there underground. I hope this helps

An example of double duke for hold'em:

@Vinny: the riffle stacking part included in Jason England's Foundation 2 is, as far as I know, the same as the 1 on 1 Theory11 released a while ago.
I am familiar with the riffle stacking, push-throughs and zarrows, and I recently have been experimenting with the idea of "cold stacking" (for the lack of a better term), that is to start FASDIU and culling, let's say the aces to the top (or even in a stacked slug!). Being a rookie in this area, I was wondering if one could attain the skill required to "cold-stack" without being suspected to peek the cards during the shuffling action, in a serious game scenario. |

Kinda like it is done in the movies which allows them to obtain any hand they desire. In reality, a lot of culling via riffle shuffles requires glimpses and peeks and at the tables I play at, it would not fly. It is somewhat impractical. Honestly, the best way to obtain desired cards is to just pick them up from the previous hand before your deal. Usually I do a combination of a pick up stack then riffle stack. But the key is to making it look natural and casual. |

Thank you for the honest answer blackeagle. Now I also need to practice stacking from the discard, which should hopefully take less practice than from the riffling action.

What exactly you guys call cold stacking?
Blackeagle, is it what I showed you, that I name "stacking on the fly"? |
