Because I'm an avid reader, I do all my reading on the "Kindle" reading device. (You can see it at Amazon.com). It didn't occur to me that I might also be able to download books on mentalist and card effects. I gave it a shot yesterday and was surprised to see a number of books. If you are a Kindle user check it out yourself.
I was able to download "Encyclopedia of Card Tricks (Magic) by Glenn Gravatt" onto my Kindle for $1.99. There was another book list called "Card Tricks by Howard Thurston". If you have both of these books or just the Encyclopedia, would it be beneficial for me to also purchase the book by Thurston, published in 1903? The description states I would be getting a digitally converted copy from the yellowed manuscript.

You should try real books, they are much better.

Believe me, I do buy the "real" books and I have quite a collection. But for $1.99, I can also add it to my Kindle without having to carry around any large books if I want to read through them while I'm out of town.
Since my Kindle can hold over 1,500 books, I can take my library everywhere I go. But who would have room to carry a bunch of large books on an airplane? The majority of the books on my Kindle are novels. I would always make sure I have a hard copy of my "magic" books no matter what. However, if I run across a $1.99-2.99 of the same book, I'll add it to the Kindle.

If you are at all interested in stage card manipulations, the Thurston book will be of interest. A large part of Lance Burton's card manipulation routine stems from Thurston's book.

http://www.lybrary.com has hundreds magic books. Are they compatible with the "Kindle". You may try downloading one of the less expensive books there and let us know how it works.

That's sounds really cool but I can't read off of computer screens very long without my eyes starting to hurt.

See if you can get your hands on the Howard Thurston Notebooks, likely out-of-print and certainly not on Kindle but perhaps available on ebay. These are the ultimate in Howard Thurston literature -two volumnes published by Mike Caveney's Magic Words.

I just Just checked and Howard Thurston's card trick book was all that I saw for the Kindle. I think I'll get that one.

The Kindle screen is not at all like looking at a computer. It will be like reading a book. No eye strain or glare. I read a book in one seating on a lazy Saturday without any problem Quote:
I don't foresee me doing any stage performance in the immediate future, but I am interested in card manipulations. I need to work on perfecting some of the sleight of hands. In the meantime, I enjoy doing mentalist effects with and without cards. Quote:
Okay, I bought the Royal Road to Cards and I was able to download it to my Kindle. Most any eBook or document can be downloaded to the Kindle. It downloaded as a PDF and I converted it to a Word doc and then emailed it to my Kindle. I spoke with customer support and they said the PDF docs are still in the experimental stage. It may or may or may not download properly. The Kindle will support and convert these type of files: Microsoft Word (.DOC), HTML, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP and TXT files. This was my first time trying to download a document.
