I recall reading a version of the Miser's Dream from one of the "beginners" books that was as follows. Magician has a scarf and drapes it over an empty hand then produces a wine glass. Then via Down's palm produces several coins dropping them in the glass. After a steal from his breast pocket he produces a few more. Two questions:
Does anyone know what book this version appears in? Has anyone seen this version performed? |

Could it be that your memory is superposing Larry Jennings one cup routine with a Miser's dream routine. It doesn't look like it because you are clearly remembering the Downs Palm, but ...
At an rate, check Larry Jennings effect: even if it is not the one you had in the back of your head, maybe it will bring the solution to your problem. Now since Larry's routine was achieved standing, you may want to check Michael Ammar who also demonstrated a glass vanish or appearance under a silk for standing performances.

Thanks Lawrence. I found the routine. It is printed in "Classic Secrets of Magic" by Bruce Elliot. Anyone seen it performed?

Possibly Harry Murphy saw it performed

These remind me of Fred Kapps beautiful "Coins and Glass" routine, published in Ganson's Routined Manipulation Finale, which uses the Down's Palm extensively.
