Any interesting ideas on alternatives to either make up yourself or buy?
I've seen it down with wooden blocks with a mark on to round leather discs? Any one know where to pick up some nice alternatives?

I was at Michaels and I saw some nice size mini slates that were a tad smaller than playing cards and very thin with a wood frame around the slate.
I thought I would use the spec's name and leave the others blank. Or the restraunts name, etc. Also, the idea of switching the named slate with another for a finale could be a possibility. I never got some, but it is still in my mind, which means next time I am there, I will get a set of 4-5 for coming up with a routine. -Scott M |

Hey I like the idea of using the spectators own name and having it change for the finale..and the restaurants logo too... Will check out an arts and crafts shop on Tuesday now.
I was watching a video of a street con using slates, had quite a few fancy little ways of spinning the slates to the table. I'll have a browse around and see what I come up with. Keep you posted. Cheers Andy

John armstrong just performed that on a tv show last week "masters of illusion"
with 3 blank kards he had a spectator sign one of the blank cards. In stead of the bent corner for the kicker ending he put a sticker on the back of his card. which ended up on another card. if you could get stickers with the restaraunts logo that would be perfect souvineir they would remember you and have their card with the restaraunt logo on the back. |

Business Cards
Audience member can sign the card (which them keep). You can also use the one way design principle. Drink Coasters Ideal for bars and on the fly. Metal Cards I recently saw some STEAL cards with holes punched in them. No idea who created them but they are built for three card. Envelopes I've written a little routine where cash is put in an envelope which is signed. At the end of the routine, the audience member picks the unsigned envelope BUT the money is found to be in that envelope! |

Made a set with some foam drinks coasters from Ikea the other day, Trinidad monte style...been playing with them today. So far just the hype and double flash...not sure what else you can do with them yet..
Like the business card idea too... also read about large dominoes.

Years ago Bob McAllister marketed a Monte type trick that used three rubber frogs.
One would squeak and after he shuffled them around you had to find it. |

I will only suggest things I know for sure are used for real:
Coins, with white out on one coin Dominoes, two identical and one double, (6/4, 6/4, 6/6 for example) leather disks, with a chalk spot. With each of these methods the winning piece can be shown to be marked, similar to the bent corner on the red card. -B

P.S. I love the dominoes. They fit in your pocket, and shake right on your hand, tossing them with the other hand.

Standard size or large dominoes?

Standard I guess. The white plastic ones with colored spots. Not the thin black ones.
