Cutting the Aces, hands down, followed by Triumph.

For me personally, it's hard to say because I haven't seen a lot of Vernon's actual performances, except for the odd thing on Youtube that doesn't seem to include his best plots. Right now, though, I've got to say that I love seeing The Travellers done well. I don't know if it's the best, or the most "layman"-pleasing, but I just love seeing that trick executed well.

Ha, so long as all four cards go to four different pockets, I'm generally happy, but Ammar's performance on the Revelations Tapes is good enough (which is to say I enjoy watching it very much). While I know we're talking about Vernon's handlings, Draun has a nice take on it, and Carney's got some neat ideas on the new Master Sessions DVD.

If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Maybe they were thinking "Dai" as in Dianne or Daisy? Or maybe there's...

Anyway I like his hat trick. I went mad on hat tricks not long ago having won a hat playing pool.

Houdini was famously fooled and impressed by Vernon's Ambitious Card.

I've always considered Triumph to be the perfect trick. Look at all the variations it has spawned. It's super visual, and can be done with or without patter.

I love Triumph but feel it loses impact when done in-the-hands! Performed on the table it can have a very ‘hands off’ feel to it. I also believe riffle shuffles done with cards flat on the table seem fairer to people and the reveal is much more striking not to mention aesthetically pleasing.
For me, the only drawback is you need a suitable table (clean, soft surface, and plenty of space for a wide ribbon spread) for this effect and that’s something I seldom find myself with. |

You want a good in the hands Triumph? Take a look at Last Man Standing by John Bannon. Included is a display that will fool some of the experts.

For me, the trick in my comments at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OuINCutpoE would count as one of Vernon's best. While practicing my double take on it, I accidentally cut to one signed card and one Twilight angel gaff, surprising myself that those cards didn't interfere with the method. As I often have signed cards in the deck, the green dots are just there to illustrate for fellow magicians what the method allows and are of course not used in a performance. /Tomas |

The only trick I ever saw him do live was his three card Monte
This was in Birmingham, England in 1977 He had explained prior to a reminisce session that he would not be performing as his hands were simply no longer up to it. Someone asked about the Monte and very apologetically he offered to show a few moves The years fell away and the cards flew around, effortlessly changing with no apparent 'moves' taking place, in a much more elaborate sequence than any I've seen in print or on recordings It's a huge shame there is so little footage out there I once was shown some film of him wand spinning when he came over to England to work with Ganson, which I've never seen since, often wondered if it still even exists |
