On May 9, 2009 IBM Ring 57 and SAM Assembly 92 as well as a few other magicians from other rings or assemblies will be joining forces for an afternoon to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. This not only raises the level of awareness of magic in general and of the Ring and Assembly, but it also allows our members to give of their time and talents to benefit a wonderful cause.

Shows are at 3:00 and 7:00 PM and tickets are only $5.00 each for a wonderful 2 hour show packed with 6 acts. The location is Bethany Lutheran Church, 1375 Friedensburg Road, Reading, PA 19606. If anybody lives close feel free to come by and enjoy.

If anybody would like any details you can PM me but I will be out of the country from April 15-22 so probably will not be on the computer during that time.

Kudos on working with a local SAM assembly on a great cause!

IBM Ring 199 in Raleigh has been doing annual shows for our local Habitat for Humanity over the past 9 years, and every year raise between $1000 - $2000. In addition to stage performers in an approximately 75 minute show, we station close-up performers in the lobby to greet people and "get them in the mood" with some walkaround magic. However, we don't sell tickets, we always "pass the hat" and ask for donations.

It is also a great opportunity to get many of our members stage time with lay audiences, which we have noticed over time is making them better performers and more magicial thinkers when considering their effects and routines!

We are doing the same thing with close-up magic. We open the doors about an hour before each show and the people can come in, buy some finger food and we have close-up performers walking around getting them in the mood as well.

Some of our local businesses have put some ads in our program as well to help support the cause.
