Woah. Who said anything about a Disney "character." I'm not talking about story book characters. I'm talking about the people that live, eat, work, breath for Disney. Look at their Imaginears. Are they wrong for "plussing" it?

My example in no way serves to illustrate your point.

The fact is, Joel uses that card. Joel works regularly. Joel makes thousands upon thousands of dollars (per day) at a trade show. So it's a tall order to tell a guy who is a millionaire and using that business card - that the business card is wrong.

Sure. I understand that. But it's easy to say that when you're no a corporate marketing executive in the position to hire him. If roles were different, you'd have to decide whether or not you want this "ego mad" man to draw thousands of visitors to your trade show booth, or an alternate plan...like hiring a "magic Café professional" to handle your multi-million dollar marketing plan.

To each their own?

We magicians "do" what? Have to conduct ourselves properly to become millionaires?

Criss Angel is as ego-maniacal as they come (at least on the outside). I don't see him hurting for work.

Why not? Mark Stevens did it. In fact he point blank told an executive that his marketing sucked. Ultimately got hired because of it.

First... most are really missing the POINT of the intended content and obvious it’s presentation from the first video. As I said out of context and over edited.

I don’t particularly care if you “like” or don’t "like" Joel. The comment about his EGO was just out of place to the discussion is all. - Like I said, I have seen him do it!

The rest of the discussion, (again) agree or disagree is just fine.

And I have NO DOUBT that if Joel were to tell multi-billionaires and CEOs that IF there card was crap, he would tell them! THAT is what they PAY HIM HUUUUUGE Money to DO... just that!

You have to KNOW how and why he does what he does to get it… sorry. – For HIM it WORKS and works incredibly well!

I have made millions (Not a type-o or a misprint) from what Joel has shared with me over the years… again, I KNOW what he shares WORKS based on real-world, road-tested experience and Joel and I are two completely difference people and personality styles, but it SUCCESS still works of you work it!

Just one tested, result guys experiance...

Me too remember that this thread is about business cards if you wish to talk about your blackberry then I would suggest to stop showing off and open a seperate thread as that is not what this topic is about, I was simply adding thoughts to what somebody else had said about the rolodex as the role of a rolodex in my opinion was lost in the beginning of the thread.

weight can be considerably biased you can do this however I prefer to take a load of opinions about a product or idea and then form my own ideas about them, I find the natural tendancy to be biased is lessened this way.

So NOW you are telling me what I meant or intended by my post? Ha! Wasn’t patronizing ANYONE, let alone you. Sorry bud. Heck, I don’t even KNOW you enough to do any such thing.

How about just reading what I read as what I meant? That is always a good place to start instead of “assigning your own meaning” and then calling ME “rude”.

Now THAT is RUDE!

Like I said... no one has to agree or disagree, but there is no need to call out names and behave poorly is there?

Nope... not being rude. Just asking a legitimate question:

“WHO SAID anything about become a millionaire by just handing out "designed" business cards?” as you actually posted.

That is what I said and what I mean... that's all, nothing more.

No need to add to the conversation that doesn’t exist... This chat is already confusing enough. No need to get mean or name calling... answer don't answer, agree, don’t agree what-ever… fine. Just do it ON point and with-out adding some made-up meaning that didn’t exist, OK?

Pretty easy really.

Answer don’t answer…
Agree, don’t agree what-ever is fine.

Be well and much success!

Yes we magicians deal with the public. Some of us better than others I suppose.

As for Copperfield and being "far less of an ego freak," well I'll just leave that one alone.

Obviously this thread has taken a very confrontational turn and I'm sorry to see that. The point of Joel's video, at least the sound byte link that was listed, was that the typical plain jane business card just isn't going to cut it. Step up to the plate, get creative, outwit and outsmart your competition by creating a business card that absolutely grabs the clients attention and GETS THEM TO CALL YOU.

That's it.

Best,
Robert

Hey I'm fed up with arguing this is my last post TheDean... sorry but I thought your post was mocking no more no less I did not call you any names just rude and I may have taken it the wrong way sorry for that.

RobertBloor stop reading into things that aren't there the job interview was hypothetical i.e. not real, that is why I used the term imagine. It's two in the morning here and I'm not arguing anymore and I'm making a point of not apolgiizing about anything I said especially to you as all you have done is rip apart what I'm saying and not accuratly.

At the end of the day we're having an argument over a business card let's get into the real world and do some magic, I'll make my cards one way whilst you guys do it another, may be the international water makes a difference here in Wales we don't have many business cards given to us on a daily basis whereas I have heard that in certain parts of America that is not true???

Ok RobertBloor sorry for the showing off thing that was crossing the line, like I said perhaps a bit wound up and tired

anyway goodnight

Guys, I viewed the video and I've followed the posts here. Motivational speakers are, by nature, what some may deem "cocky," "egotistical," "condensending," etc. Confidence is their stock in trade. Yes, that approach turns me off, but, as Donald says, that should not exclude any valid truths that these folks may offer.

Where this thread has led, however, seems to be the "give and take" that Café members volley to each other. I must say the sarcastic language and retorts do indeed lead to a definite, but possibly unintentioned, negative impression. Yes, we can agree to disagree, but some of the responses to Neale's comments, for example, were backhanded retorts.

Civility in discussion is of primary importance, and any language which seems to degrade anyone's personal perspective, to me at least, is counterproductive to what I see is this forum's primary objective.

IMHO.

Love ya, mean it!
