Many of the coin tricks require a coin to be held in palm position before the start of the tricks.
Do people have suggestions of how to get to this position unnoticed during various occasions. When you start, it is relatively simple but when somebody asks for a trick its quite challenging. One method I beleive most commonly is to palm the coin when you put your hand into the pocket and take the other ones. Any other innovative techniques?? |

You don't have to use classic palm all the time. There are other palming method that are also ideal - like the finger palm. The coin in the FP position can easily br transferred to the CP position. whenever you want.
Magician's wax would be helpful. Using it to stick a coin on the cigarette box (if yu are a smoker) or any box, wallet, collar, sleeve, belt, etc. This would create the convenience to retrieve the coin whenever you want. |

Whenever I know I'm in a position where I might be asked to perform a trick I always have 2 coins stuck in my belt just above the back pockets. If anyone asks me to show something I just do the very natural motion of adjusting my trousers for a second whilst I'm talking and I steal the coin from the belt into the hand (or both coins or whatever you need and I classic palm it. Its invisible, its at a natural arms length ( I think the back pocket is a bit deep to look natural) and it allows you to steal repetitive coins throughout a routine

One thing that is helpful to keep your hands natural is to walk around always palming a coin. Finger palm, classic palm, etc. Then when someone asks you to do something, you are ready!

You can also get a pen or your wallet out of an indifferent place (pocket, jacket). This is rather deceptive because your are holding something; as well as that you are concealing the palmed object.

What I have been doing is keeping a single coin outside of a coin purse in my pocket. When you pull out the coin purse to get your coins, you conceal the extra coin behind the purse. Pull the coins out of the purse and as you toss the purse down, friction palm the coin into finger palm and you are ready to go. Sometimes I set the purse on the table with the extra coin on the table and then do my effects that do not require and extra. When the time comes for the extra, I grab the purse and steal the coin.

You're making it difficult for yourself. There's 2 possible scenarios. 1) You plan on doing a trick so you palm it when you are about to do it, before you start. 2) The spectator asks to see something. If you're walking around with a coin in the palm it ideally should be classic or finger palm. If it's a long time then finger is easier to hold.
If the coin is in your pocket then just put your hand in your pockets and palm it. Leave them there as if you're just standing there with your hands in your pocket. People do that all the time. What I do sometimes is put my hands into my pocket as if I'm searching to see if I have any tricks on me. I'll say, "I'm not sure if I have anything on me to show you." I'll put my hands in my pockets to search and palm it in the process. The hands come out, and I'll say, "Sorry, I don't have anything." Imply the hands empty with the C****** P***. Then I'll say something like, "Let's just use this spec of dust on your shirt." You get the idea from there. I hope this helps. |
