I'm planning on seeing John Hirokawa's show next month in Honolulu. I'd be interested in anybody's review or opinion of the show. Also, are there any other Magicians performing there?

It's a great show! The theater itself is a bit of a tourist trap... it's huge, you have to buy dinner, lots of servers running around hustling people in and walking in front of you while the show is going on. But the show itself is quite good and worth seeing! Very entertaining.

I really think John is underrated! That show is fantastic!
There IS a lot going on during the show, but I didn't find it too distracting, and my dinner and drinks were great.
DO check the schedule to be sure JOHN is performing. That show runs CONSTANTLY and John sometimes has understudies to fill in.
The cool part about the theater is the set is huge, and some effects are built into the multi level stage.

Great show, nice guy, many original intepretations.

Well I attended the show last Friday. Wow! It was much better than I thought it would be. The theater is designed to make you feel like you are in the crater of a volcano. My daughter and I were fortunate to be seated within ten feet of the center edge of the stage. While eating the dinner we were entertained by an Elvis impersonator who was actually quite good. The Magic began with special effects simulating the eruption of a volcano and there was native music and dance, which was also featured throughout the show. The music and dance fit very well with the way the illusions were presented and was much more enjoyable than some of the choreography I have seen with other illusionists. John Hirokawa made his magical appearance and then performed one of my favorite illusions, a Tiki version of “Things that go Bump in the Night”. I have seen Doug Henning perform this illusion live and David Copperfield’s “Big Red Box” live also and I enjoyed John’s version just as much. His version is very original and was quite well received by the sold out audience. The production of a Helicopter on stage was incredible but it was even more amazing when he had his entire cast of dancers enter a grass shack and made the dancers and the grass shack disappear near the end of the show. He closed the show by making it snow, which of course fell on everybody in the auditorium. Thanks to all the Café members who recommended this show for a very enjoyable evening!
