Here’s something weird and would love to know how this happened.

I am a magician and have been doing shows for a company for about 20 years.

For the last month or so, I’ve been taking pictures of my hometown and posting them on my FB page. Plus, just like my NYC photos, I have a ton and have been spending my riding time taking location shots.

About ten minutes ago the phone rings and I see the agency’s number, so I think to myself; “oh cool a show.”

My booker says he has a weird request.

“Thursday is take your kid to work day and I was wondering if you would want to work an event TAKING DIGITAL PHOTOS of the people?”

In 20 years of working for this guy the only thing I have ever done was magic shows.

He doesn’t know that I’ve been loading photos on my myspace or FB pages. But yet, out of the blue he asks me if I want to do something other than a magic show…take pictures, no less???!!!

(He has a type of set up where you take a photo with the person standing in front of a background, then process it through something. He has the equipment and is going to show me how to use it. Not hard at all, he says.)

Blows my mind…

Coincidence?

Coincidence? Maybe not. Some employers set up false accounts on facebook and friend the employees. I know that this sounds crazy, but it happens.

I had an employer one time that installed a piece of software called 007 on union members computers. He would record every keystroke and save a picture of their screen every twenty seconds.

Considering the amazing difficulty of taking photos with a digital camera it defies the odds that they called you, one of the very few who know how to take photos with these complicated and rare devices, it just boggles the mind. Where in New Jersey did you take your photos?

Sounds like the agent got a request for the photographer service, and maybe considered you reliable enough and threw the bone toward you. If you want the money, why not?

EXACTLY! Why not, that's what I always say. Who cares how I make the money as long as I make it. (leagally of course)

I was just amazed by the timing. He doesn't know that I ride around on my bike all day taking pictures, that's what blows my mind.

BTW: I did the gig and it was a piece of cake! I told him to call me anytime he needs help because I liked it!
