If you are into street magic, but find a backpack or bookbag to be cumbersome, try out a vest. The type I'm referring to is the flyfishing/photography style. They have dozens of pockets, can be found in several different colors, and are not too expensive.
They will make you stand out against most of the laymen, (a good thing) and the pockets will fit most tricks or gimmicks, card decks and wallets, your coins, etc. Look for one at your local sport center for around twenty dollars.

As well as a Bob James vest, I also use a barmans apron. Scotty York showed it in his videos. For the right working conditions it is great - pockets are the right level to toss in the gaffs as well as hold larger apparatus.

Bob James is no longer offering his vest until he finds another seamstress. His other one quit making them.
He will have them again eventually. Also, 30 pockets is too many for my taste. A friend of mine uses one of the vests and never uses that many pockets. A more functional number would be 15 or so. Check out this link for vests perfect for street and child magicians. Just pan down a short ways when you get there. http://www.daytonamagic.com/Accessories/AC48.htm

If you'd be interested in a vest with more pockets than you could ever possibly use, check out the "performer's vest" at TheTrickery.com. Rather pricey, but it looks like a dandy.
