I have one cut out half (tail side) which is not coming even close to the beauty of what your grandfather gave you. You're lucky and you should be grateful to your grandfather. Did it already occur to you that at the end of a Spellbound routine, with such a coin, you can do a ring and string effect using a leather shoe lace.
Another point is that you can use a gaffed coin like a C/S next to your cut out coin. No one will be interested in checking the "regular" coin for your grand father's present supplies a great misdirection.

Just head on over to ebay and search for "cut coin". Or search google for "cut coin jewelry" they come in the form of pendants or money clips ... enjoy!

This coin may well have been cut with a fine saw as opposed to a laser. There is a street vendor here in San Francisco who does this kind of work.

Can you post the name of the shop and the address in San Francisco (now a phone number or an email would even be nicer)

Very, very cool. You have something fairly unique there Mr.Crebar!
You could do some neat stuff with that. |

Hello,
Yeah-That is really very cool. Too bad it wasn't a Morgan! Unique-And opens up lots of possibilities. Thanks for the pics and sharing this with us, and I think I'll talk to some of the folks I know that own a machine shop and see if they can pull this off. In Morgans. Thanks again. Jim |

Thanks guys. The reason that I posted this, is because I have never really been a coin man. But I am interested in purchasing other magic effects. I wanted to sell this to a coin magic affection-ado and use the money to buy something that would be suitable to me. My grandfather doesn't have any sentimental connection to it, and simply gave it to me because he knows I like unique coins and currency. I don't know what would be a fair/reasonable price for this item, if any of you have suggestions I would appreciate it. It sounds like many of you would appreciate and use this much more than myself.

When I lived in San Francisco I remember a street vendor doing the cut coins as well. Back then it was done with a fine jewelers saw, I'm not sure about how they cut them now. I would guess that a good silversmith can do as good a job as a laser can, and it's hand crafted, which is so much nicer. Cutcoins on ebay has some nice looking ones. I purchased a money clip from him that has a place to put a Morgan. Very nice.
