I shook the hand of the Dali lama today in San Francisco. So I have that going for me.

I wonder if my DL will be nicer because I shook the hand of the DL.... Smile

I always liked the Dali Lama, he's as legit as the pope is as far as religious leaders go. He also ticks off China, which is always fun. Once he goes, and he will, how long does it take to replace him? Is a guy picked and put into place or is it where they have to grow one?

So when this one passes, which will be a bummer cuz we will have to listen to a non stop collection of celebs whine about it, it would be decades until a kid is picked and grows up to be the new Dali Lama? The Chinese would love that. I'm sure they will have their own to promote.

My national newspaper had a good article about the next succession a few weeks back.

Three page story starts here:

Make America Great Again! - Trump in 2020 ... "We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No." - Craig T. Nelson, actor.

Why would you say that?

Actually, it often takes years to select the Dalai Lama. They searched for 4 years before they came upon the current (14th) Dalai Lama (the search began 2 years before he was even born).

The current Dalai Lama has proposed an election system to select his successor, in part to cut down on the time the process takes.

While Kev does that, let me check with an equally reliable source, the Magic 8 ball. Not bloody likely. The ball has spoken.

Here, those who question my Lama type wisdom when I said it could take decades, clipped and pasted from the article my pal Balducci posted....

When he dies, his reincarnation will almost certainly be a young boy, someone likely decades away from being able to take on the leadership role that comes with the title. Mr. Wang of the Tibetology

Note the word 'decades'....it is a gift.

Same as Mr. Alpaca but with less cuteness and a higher acidity to his spit. Oh! You mean the Lama, spritual leader and leader of Tibet
