All I can think of about riot police is the footage from Seattle.
There was one clip in particular where a protester had his hands up in surrender and an armoured cop ran up and kicked him in the delicates. After that, all I can surmise is that the goal of the police is to put the crowd down rather than what it should be, to protect the crowd from themselves. Rodney King. New Orleans. Peoples' Park. Sugarloaf. The list goes on. Quote: -I saw a picture in the paper showing a protesting crowd, with riot police in the background, in Mexico. They were protesting because they have not had running water in over a week. Here is were the human factor comes into to play... If you (anyone) was a riot policeman, and your sister/boyfriend/cousin/ect was in the riot, what would you do? Shoot tear gas at them? during Katrina, many (im not sure of the number) of the N.O police left the city with their families, leaving the city further in trouble. Family or duty? If we had the same situation here as they are having in Mexico, riots, ect. what comes next? (national guard?)
