I have heard it mentioned that generik dollar store cards work. I tried it with conterfeit bee's and they aren't very slick but with some fanning powder they are okay for productions. Not so much on the fans but thin as ever I can back palm over a dozen. More than I can say for the Neilson deck I got at Chucks House Of Magic.

Really do not understand your statement, if you purchased the non-powdered deck, you must powder them yourself by using fanning powder. Nielsen sells 2 types of cards, powdered and non-powdered. Which one did you purchase?

If you are commenting that you can Back Palm 12 regular cards and not 12 Nielsen's, then that does not make sense to me. I can Back Palm a whole deck of Nielsen Cards, but I perfer to only use 32 cards.

Hey Taylor, I also use my manipulation in my close up venues, I find having three or four cards chosen then making them disapear in thin air one at time, then producing them from different places sure puts the audiance in a sence of wonder. Of course theres angles to be watched, but I practice in a big room with a 6 foot three sided mirror and I learned body movements that look natural that hide the bad angles.
As for cards I find to each there own, theres some effects like card spinning and bouncing like McBride that you want a stiffer card, and fans and such you want a smaller more thinner card. So unless your using body loads with several types I guess its a matter of what works for you!
Like Taylor, myself I perform with Bikes as well straight from the box, but down fall here is, they are easy to drop cause there so slippery.

Just my thoughts...

Are you guys always using only one type of cards in your routines? I'm using 3 different types of cards in my routine.
* normal bicycle cards (for lot of tension)
* marvey's
* magicians's card by Million Cards (bought at seo magic)
* Juliana chen's plastic cards

I never powered or waxed my cards until now. My trick was using the right cards at the right moments.
Murphy's never fan as I want. Need probably to powder them Smile

Thanks for all the great advise in this thread. It's very helpful!

Yes, different cards can and are used for different situations. Certain moves sometimes require a thicker or thinner playing card.

If you don't power, then the only fan that can be made is the pressure fan.

Yes, always powder, why make things more difficult on yourself.

If your cards don't fan well, that is because they are dirty. Use cotton ball, and wipe each side of each playing card. Who said card manipulation are easy. Then powder the same way with clean cotton balls.

I use to use two different kinds of cards, Nielsen’s and a fanning deck. The fanning deck I used to show the different designs.

Now I think I will use a third like a red back bicycle deck for the Perfect Production. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the money to drop cards on the stage floor wantonly. At least with the Bee or Bicycle, they are still cheap enough to do so.
