Thank you to everyone who said "Gemini Twins."
I had read it in my Fulves, but it seemed to simple to deconstruct. So I skipped it. But after reading so many comments from everyone in this thread and others, I pulled it out the other day. After practising, I've began to play with it with others. It really does work! It is awesome! And a very good reminder that other people probably aren't deconstructing things the way someone learning a bit of magic is... Thank you! Thank you. I really appreciate your posts, the humour, camaraderie and insight! cheers - El Lamo

My advice would be learning to cull multiple cards while fanning through the deck once. That, maybe combined with a double undercut, pretty much renders unnecessary any pre-trick setup.

I tend to do an effect I posted here earlier called "The Card Trick That Has No Explanation." It can be done with an incomplete deck, requres only one sleight and the cards can be in any condition....

I'd also recommend looking over the many effects in The Card Magic of Nick Trost. Two effects which I regularly do which can be done from a shuffled deck are Matched Picture Cards and Royal Rendezvous. They both get great reactions every time from magicians and laymen alike.

I'll also go with Bannon's Timely Departure,Any Paul Harris effect and quite a few from ETMCM.

I always get a very strong reaction to the impromptu version of Out Of This World (I think it is Harry Lorayne's, but I could be wrong there).

Three Card Coincidence by Bill Tarr from the book Bill Tarr's Notebook. It is hands down one one of the best self working tricks I have ever came across. I love it, and do it constantly. Highly recommended trick.
Check out my new effect "As Good As It Gets" a gimmickles pencil or pen through bill effect. It closely mimmicks the slow motion phase of "Misled." About "As Good AS It Gets" for no gimmicks and everything being borrowed.

And to return the one of the most mentioned effects:
Don’t forget to read through OUT OF SIGHT AND MIND II in St. Minch: Dai Vernon – More Lost Inner Secrets, Lake Tahoe 1988, pp. 32 – 40! |

Check out "AFFINITY" I believe it's in one of the Vernon chronicles. It is by far the best trick with a borrowed deck. The deck must be complete though.
