His Sunday January 17, 2010 Workshop will be FREE to all of our friends who attend SCAM 2010. Harry’s unique presentation of the classic Magic Square has been hailed as revolutionary. He has actually simplified the methodology to a point where performance is the focus. In Harry’s words: “I can only hint at the impact of this Magic Square. It’s the single strongest piece of magic I have ever used to close my show. And it is the simplest thing you’ll learn this decade. It’s wildly wonderful, it’s oddly powerful, and it’s imminently doable. Beat that with mystic. Adult language is used in this workshop. Here is your chance to see some of the best talent in the Magic Business in a very balanced line up that will enhance your overall magic skills. And to top it off, you get to attend Harry’s Great Workshop without any additional cost. Wow, for our low convention fee you get a special Workshop FREE! HAVE WE GOT A TREAT FOR YOU!
Harry Anderson will be bringing goods from his magic shop, “Spade and Archer”, that was located in New Orleans prior to Katrina. The product is largely hand-made, limited runs of his select tricks, lecture notes, DVD’s and books. There will also be select high-end collectibles added for flavor. It’s an extraordinary dealership and a special opportunity to see and possibly own some of the great magic from Harry’s collection. We are pleased to announce that Ricky Boone, owner of Magic Central will be at Harry’s booth to assist him. You do not want to miss the chance to experience Harry with his collection of magic right here at SCAM 2010 … not to mention a great lecture, a FREE Workshop and his performance in the Gala Show on Saturday night. And this is just one of the Fantastic magicians on the bill. Do you want a convention that is heavy in all of the areas of magic you are interested in? SCAM 2010 presents a well balanced line up that will take you to a new level: Magic that is usable and proven material from the Masters that you can apply to your performance. See you in January 2010 |

SCAM 2010
South Carolina’s Prime Convention Fifteen Years and Counting. We are proud to have hosted some of the finest Magicians over that time and are dedicated to continue that tradition. 2010 does just that by bringing together a very balanced line up that includes some of the Masters of Magic along with stars of tomorrow who will join that elite group. From this exposure to great talent, you will go home with inspiration to take your own performance to a new level. It is not just about seeing the “Stars” perform, but about gaining magic knowledge that you can actually use, taught by magicians that understand. We have now secured a theatre with a proscenium stage (the best for a magic performance) to feature our Gala Show on Saturday night, January 16, 2010. Check our web site http://www.scamcon.org for more information. Please look at our Video Contest and find out about the magic auction. Register soon to be eligible for the special drawing to win a free registration for SCAM 2011. For all those who have already chosen to join us, a Big Thank You! |

I was dreading the 13.5 hour one way drive from Kalamazoo, Michigan, to my nephew's January 17 wedding in downtown, Columbia, SC. To my delight I found out about SCAM- less than a mile away from the wedding site. Unbelievable. This drive will now be a delight- hope to catch as much of SCAM as I can- neato! I must say I am torn between SCAM and Magic at the Beach. Anyone else trying to decide since both of these are going to be the same weekend? There are pros and cons to both of them.

It was bad business and politics having them the same weekend. Look at both schedules, I think you will see who has more to offer.

I was on the very first committee to host SCAM. I was at the Ring 105 meeting when we decided to start a convention. I can say with absolute certainty, that none of us have any intention of doing anything but promoting the art of magic in a positive way in South Carolina for any and all. We are experienced in running a convention, not perfect, but we promise not just first rate performers, but our hospitality. We are thankful for those who have been faithful and loyal supporters of our convention and we thank you for your future support. I also, at the same time, hope that the other convention in South Carolina on the same weekend has a great experience. With that said, however, it is my hope that next year we will avoid the same weekend. Life is too short to be negative, I want the state of South Carolina to have magic opportunities for everyone.

I have the highest respect for Tony, but this all could have been avoided. It reeks of bad politics. Hopefully things will change in the future.

No shortage of bad politics in this business. Question is: which convention goes under and do all the entertainers and bills get paid? It's no secret that SCAM attendance has been down dramatically over the last few years. Egos and arrogance have clouded good business judgment. It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. I don't understand how all this promotes the "art of magic in a positive way", but we will see.

I do not know who you are doormouse, but would welcome an opportunity to talk over any and all of your concerns face to face. Again, life is too short, let's work in a positive way for all of magic in the state of SC. And a grand hello to Bairefoot. Yes I am now lingering in the chat room on occasion. Hope you are well. SCAM paid all bills last year. Our attendance was down for 2009 due to several factors foremost of those was the lousy economy. That was something we could not help. We just want to have a great time and provide a great convention - really, that is all. SCAM 2010 will be fantastic and we welcome any and all who wish to fellowship with us. We promise you first rate service as we have done to the best of our ability for the past fourteen years.

Isn't it obvious "doormouse" is Bill Groome of Madhatter Magic?

Good one John. He lives to slam SCAM. Been doing that on here for years now. Best to ignore it.
I'm with you Tony. Let's be positive. I plan to be at SCAM in January. See you there. |
