Does anyone know of, or has seen a silk thru body illusion, like thru the waist?
Thanks -Eric |

Jim Gerrish's "Passing Through" in The Wizards' Journal #11 on my site has a silk pass through the magician's body and end up knotted to a rope that penetrates his body from front to back. That is just the finale of a penetration routine.

Tina Lenert is performing a piece with a silk-through-neck effect. I believe it's a similar method to the silk-through-mic-stand.

There are two entirely different methods to investigate. One is ungimmicked.

Can't this be done similarly to Silk Through Mike Stand?
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

You're researching it as a silk effect. The original was a rope effect. Jim Gerrish and I first saw it on a U.F. Grant "Lecture Movie," and so we attribute it to him. It is found as item #2 on the Wiz Kids "Rope Magic" DVD, under the name "U.F. Grant's Rope Through Neck." It is also used in Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki's "Blendo Ropes" effect from The Wizards' Journal #16, but as a rope through body effect, not as a silk through neck...although one works as well as another if using a long rope-like silk such as a woman's scarf or a silk streamer. Dig through the ROPE drawer on my site for access to both.

Do you want a straight pass thru from front to back or back to front. To knot around you it will require a rather large silk. I do not believe the microphone stand effect will work do to a large body and clothing hang-ups. A better understanding of the illusion you are after is necessary, please explain throughly. Thanks. |

Pavel has an effect on one of his tapes that involve swallowing a silk scarf, and then a rope thru neck or body that pulls the scarf back out knotted to the rope.
Cyril has a stage rope performance where he pulls the scarf thru his neck. This type of effect can be found in most rope magic books Lynn Fox |

Wally had sent me a link to Tina's routine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bq1dfw5g80 It is nicely choreographed. After visiting her site, I saw that she was the one that does the "Maid in Heaven" routine of a cleaning lady meeting Mr. Charming (in a mop) - what a wonderful presentation that is. Her silk routine was very good. As Bob alluded to, and Spellbinder said, the silk thru neck appears to be a non-gimmicked version, that is taught in the Wiz Kids' rope dvd. This method, modified slightly, can also be found in Einhorn's 200 Easy to Learn Magical illusions.., in his "tie through neck". The method, can also be found in, I almost hate to say it, "My First Magic Book" by Leyton. (Yes, I do read kid's magic books. I read them becuase they do have some good stuff, so there!) John
