This method has become a truly intriguing topic. When I discovered it back in the early 90's, I thought I was the only one. Since the release of my DVDs, several magicians have come out of the woodwork who had also discovered it. Some just used it for photos, while others used it for actual routines. I think I may be the only one to employ a larger ball to cover the angles, but who even knows on that one. I have done it in broad daylight though, and even at close range.

None of the others I ever met used it for more than a move or two, except apparently for myself and Ian, who's method seems much closer to the gimmick I use now, than the one I used on the DVDs (though I'm sure the woodwork will produce more).

It is an unusual pleasure to see someone who's been using this for so long under the radar and doing it so very well. My hat is off to you Ian. Perhaps we can meet one day and compare notes.

Very gracious of you to comment on this. As you know, when doing something "dangerous" or avante garde, one becomes insecure. This forum allows me to show some of the oddities I have done in the past.
As I get older, I decided to resurrect effects like this as we never had the Youtube medium in my day. (although I have the Tannens camp from 80' on tape).
The coolest thing about our zombie effects, is that it looks like what the others guys do, so they associate their gimmicks with the routine and can't imagine how its done. If they knew how simple a gimmick it really is, then they all say "of course".

It looks like it was supposed to be played to Van Morrison's "Moondance". No telling what you'd have to do to get rights to use the song on Youtube.

Jerico

How can you possibly tell which song it was performed to?
Or were you joking?????

Not hard actually. The name of the routine was Moondance Zombie spelled backwards. His costume is similar to what Van Morrison is known for wearing and if you play the song with it, you'll find he hits several points in the music. Just a little musical detective work Smile

Ian,

So true, my friend. If they only knew.

Seeing your video was like running into the proverbial 747 a hundred years before Kitty Hawk. You must be truly on the edge of magic. We must get together some time and talk shop.

One of the Café members PM'd me and tipped your attachment method and there is a similarity on the initial hook-up. I like the control you have on yours once it is "unleashed". Mine is too delicate to do the extreme movements you do.
I have done the effect with a lit candle, and a battery operated lit ball as well. The light allows freedom.

I love your Kinetic Shiva and I think you should do a hybrid of the two effects. This is something I would love to do. If you add even two seconds of reanimated to the contact moves, it will kill.

Ian,

Intriguing. I would love to see the candle effect some day. I can see where the light would add to things.

Yours is a nice hybrid
of contact juggling and "Naked Zombie"
I like the speed of yours,
Mine is neither method.

Yes I understand that. Like I said I have used your method in the past. Thus far I don't think there is a combination of gimmicks and devices I have not tried. still searching through!

Ian, tis just my opinion, but I would still classify that a zombie routine.

I love your presentation.

Thanks, and I yours. However, I don't believe you are fully aware of the method I am using. PM me.
