The bottom line is, you claim that you are doing this for exposure. For what these events have apparent;y cost you, you could have had a short commercial on your local cable station for the same amount of money and you wouldn't have to lose time from work.

$500? Yeah, I could run for 30 seconds at 3 am on the local cable that everyone in my neighborhood cut for OTA digital television...

Ask a Rainbow or Kirby vacuum salesman sometime why they don't have a commercial on television. Then ask them why they don't have a website on the internet. It's a wash.

Yesterday while setting up for a fair I got a phone call from a church. Now I'm hired on the 31st.

Whatever I'm doing seems to be working.

I should have been more specific, they don't try to sell through the web. One click into either of those sites, and they want to schedule you for a demo. I sold vacuums at one time and you learn very quickly that live demonstration is the best advertisement there is. You cannot count on a 30 second blurb on television to grab quality clients. You establish a solid repertoire from day one.

I'm not sure I want the world beating on my door.

I do not pai to sell my balloons but do so anyway in a way. I try to exchange with the organazers So they get a "free" magic show and I get a "free" permit to sell my balloons. I sell my balloons and at the same time get free publicity. I usually get 5 - 8 bookings from this and get attention in the local media.
