Conjurors corner club in Roselle(near Schaumburg) Has three fantastic lectures for june!

Glenn Morphew
Monday, June 1st
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

We are fortunate enough to have a special guest on June 1st. Glenn Morphew is a local professional magician who has honed his skills over many years of restaurant work, although he has devoted his talents primarily to corporate events and private parties in recent years. At age 16 Glenn was bitten by the magic bug after reading the Royal Road to Magic. He diligently strives to improve on his magical skills. In the January 2004 issue of Genii magazine, an original move for the Rub A Dub Deluxe, perfected by Glenn, was published. He has developed many other unpublished moves and sleights. Glenn will lecture on several effects from his working repertoire. In addition to many card effects, Glenn will teach his ring and rope routine, "The Alien Ring", a very easy to do 4 coin assembly, his 5 phase finger ring routine, and a few other non-card routines.

So if you are a beginner, or a seasoned pro, come to Glenn's lecture, there is something for everyone.

Non-member fee for Glenn Morphew is $15 and is payable at the door.

David Williamson
Wednesday, June 17th
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

David Williamson will make virtually any event the one they will talk about for years to come. Considered to be one of the world's most talented magicians, he knows the secret of capturing the imagination of any audience.

A born showman and an unusually accomplished sleight of hand artist, David dazzles audiences with a unique and delightful brand of entertainment, blending heart-stopping magic with side-splitting hilarity.

David is one of the most versatile corporate entertainers working today. Whether he's pretending to be a nervous stress management consultant for 12,000 McDonald's managers or producing a live donkey onstage at a top-level IBM meeting, David has the ability to engage, entertain, and educate any corporate group.

David was featured on ABC's Prime Time Special, Champions of Magic, where he appeared with Princess Stephanie as he performed his miracles at different locations in and around Monaco. David has also co-starred in several top-rated prime-time network specials including Magicians' Favorite Magicians (CBS), Houdini: Unlocking His Mysteries (NBC), and World's Greatest Magic III (NBC).

As host of the United Kingdom's acclaimed television series The Magic Comedy Strip, David's irresistible mix of humor and skill helped make it one of the highest rated shows in the country. He has created illusions for and performed in several commercials and has developed TV shows for Walt Disney Productions and ABC, as well as consulting for illusionists David Copperfield's and David Blaine's TV specials. David appeared on PAX TV's World Magic Awards special where he was awarded comedy magician of the year.

He also created and starred in his own infomercial, David Williamson: The Man Who Knows, which was hosted by TV's Harry Anderson. In Britain, he has appeared on the BBC's comedy series Stuff The White Rabbit.

David is acclaimed as one of the world's outstanding sleight of hand artists. The very same year he won first place in the International Brotherhood of Magicians' sleight of hand competition, he also became the first ever recipient of the prestigious Gold Cups Award of Excellence in close-up magic.

For two years in a row, David was voted Sleight of Hand Magician of the Year by his peers at Hollywood's renowned Magic Castle. He has also been twice awarded Magic Castle Lecturer of the Year and Magic Castle Parlor Magician of the Year. David is a popular lecturer and performer for the magic fraternity as well.

His best-selling magic book, Williamson's Wonders, has been translated into four languages.

We have David Williamson joining us on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. This is a Conjuror's Corner exclusive. David will not be performing anywhere else in the Chicagoland area for some time.

Non-member fee for David Williamson is $25 and is payable at the door. There are no discounts available for this lecture.

WHIT HAYDN
Monday, June 22nd
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Whit Haydn is that strangest of creatures, an honest cheat--a fake scoundrel. Whether on stage or performing close-up magic at an elegant private party, Whit Haydn combines his magic with the wit and charm of a con artist and the deftness of a pickpocket. His humor, wit, and incredible skill keep people talking long after the event.

Whit’s versatility, warmth and humor have made him a favorite even among his fellow magicians. The Magic Castle, Hollywood’s world famous clubhouse for the Academy of Magical Arts, honored him with six academy awards— "Stage Magician of the Year" twice as " Parlour Magician of the Year," twice as "Close-Up Magician of the Year" and this year as "W. C. Fields Bar Magician of the Year."

Top professional magicians from all over the world have performed Whit’s original published routines. He is the author of several books, videotapes and DVDs on magic, and is a frequent lecturer at magic conventions and seminars in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia.

On stage, Whit combines wit, humor and audience participation with unbelievable sleight-of-hand to weave a spell of enchantment and fun. He proposes to teach how some of the classic feats of magic are done. As the explanation progresses, so does the confusion as magic just seems to happen, and the audience, the on-stage volunteers, and the magician are caught up in a mystifying web of comedy and pure magic. Using everyday objects such as an egg, a rope, and a newspaper, Whit turns classic magic inside out–the magician seems lost as the magic happens in the hands of the spectators.

We have Whit Haydn joining us on Monday, June 22, 2009. Come on out and learn how to become an honest cheat!! Non-members will be $25 at the door. There are no other discounts available as this is an exclusive lecture.

I second that Tom! We ARE great guys Smile Anyway, if anyone is out there in the Chicago area and is looking for a club that meet's unofficially once a week and officially once a month that has generous, knowledgeable and helpful magicians then I would suggest checking it out. The greatest part besides the camaraderie is that they have an astounding number of lectures by some great magicians and it's included in the price of the membership. Don't miss these lectures even if you don't join the club. You will be glad you did.
Why does coin magic make my head hurt!?!

I was at all 3 lectures. You all know that Williamson and Haydn were good. They were really good and lots of fun. But you probably don't know Glenn Morphew. Following is a review.

I recently attended a lecture given by Glenn Morphew. Glenn is a professional magician from the Chicago area who obviously loves what he does, and the time and effort he puts into his routines really shows. Glenn's lecture covers material that is very practical, very magical, and most importantly, entertaining. He does not present magic as a challenge or a puzzle, but as a vignette, complete with presentation. You will find his performances are not narrative, but go to a level where many lecturers come up short.

Included in his lecture are his Alien Ring (a well-structured ring and rope routine), a few card tricks which incorporate some sleights you may not have seen before, and Glenn's unique approach to the Three Shell Game. The shell routine is not presented as a challenge, and after you see it, you'll want to learn it. Highlights include the aforementioned as well as Mr. Stickman and Glenn's take on the Rub-A-Dub vanish, which will fool you over and over again. His manner is natural, confident and professional and he will address any question with patience.

Glenn is not a "magician's magician," though he certainly could be if he chose to be. He is a real world worker and his material reflects that.

The lot is usually pretty empty if you get there early enough. It may be really crowded for the August meeting so you may want to try it in July and see.

Glenn presented his new lecture last night. Wow. It gets better and better. Any group that hires magic lecturers is missing out if you don't get Glenn Morphew to visit. His name might not be familiar to a lot of folks, but he's the real deal.
