Actually I think it should go thus:

My mother, looking for some loose change before heading to the store (way back when), picked up one of my gaffed half dollars. When she got to the store she couldn't find it! Chagrinned, she fessed up upon returning home, sorry for losing the coin with such obvious magic ability. I reached in her purse and brought it out. It was a hooked coin caught on the lining.

Word. I've never done coin tricks before, but I'm sure to keep the advice of keeping it seperate from other coins in my head.

I would not like to see expensive props disappearing.

At least you spend it. In my kids show some children like to "keep" for example the white tops from vanishing wand. ;-) bummer
