WIth the heel/back peek, you slide the top card over with your thumb, which lies on the top of the deck. Is there a common method to peek the card second from the top with this peek? Maybe something like a reverse two card pushoff?

Being a left hooker I can bubble them with the pinky - which is easier with a get ready.

Or use a thumb bubble peak and just spread two cards?

I'd take a postmodernist approach and say that it all depends on context and you can't say that about a move because it always depends on game, situation, stakes etc
blah blah blah same old same old |

Pinky count two cards, then squeeze the little finger to the left. When the thumb performs the action required to peek the top card, you'll see the second card. With a little practice and the right touch, you can you can peek top and second card.

The peek you looking for is called the fan peek. It is breifly explained in Steve Forte's Casino Game Protection. There is also brief video footage of David Malek performing the fan peek on his Cheating a Hold'em DVD but no explanation. Essentially, it is a bold move allowing you to glimpse anything up to 7 cards.

I'm pretty sure the fan peek and the heel peek are completely different items. Traditionally, the fan peek uses both hands (correct?) while the heel peek only requires use of the dealing hand.

The terminology used by Steve Forte is the back peek. The fan peek is a special case of this and its executed with one hand.

Hi ... it's Docjon here ... I'm a day late and dollar short ... your initial post was some time ago ... but here goes...
The back peek enables you not only to see the top card but up to four or five cards! When you get lucky! (that's a lot of air between the cards). Start by beveling the cards towards the fingers ... now reach your thumb over the left side (that is beveled) and push it towards the fingers making for more of a bevel, keeping it against the top card with pressure ... now 'bend' the thumb... squeezing it against the top card ... and you will notice that the top card the part against your meat of the thumb ... will start to 'rise' (hopefully and w/ practice) you will controll that and get more if you want to. If you need more ... just let me know. Docjon |

Come on Tom!!!
It's not that hard once you get the hang of it ... on the square! Klause gave a good (so I was told) demo of it ... he used it as a thing where you put the card into the deck? It looks like half way down but is second from the top thingy! (I forget the name!) You guys know what I mean ... someone help me out. LOL docjon |

I usually just rock a bubble peek... gets me an easy 2-4 card peek every time.
