Dear Mr. McBride,

This topic has been discussed on many forums.

Do you think that Youtube has been good or bad for magic....?

The way it's reached out to many new magicians and at the same time has exposed many secrets; what is your opinion on this?

Moos

Greetings Moos, and all...

I have already covered this topic in the thread called Tutorials on the Web, here at the Café. Please read through my response there,
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=267&4

Also, in my upcoming article The Show Doctor in a future Magic Magazine, I have this to say about You Tube:

YouTube is full of magic clones. There seems to be some sort of perverse pride for magic YouTubers in seeing how closely they can copy something. Some of the cloning that I have seen on these clips is absolutely obscene. The good news is that watchdog magicians can give very direct feedback in the comments of the YouTube clips. Harsh criticisms are hurled on magic community message boards, and these imitators swiftly get pushed out of the more ethical magic circles.

Yours in the expansion of magic,

Jeff
