Who do you consider to be the "rising stars" in magic? and what do you believe the next evolution for magic will be? The late 1800 brought us the Touring Shows with elaborate stages focusing on adult magic. The early 1900 brought us Vaudeville and music hall acts that still catered to adults but began to usher in the age of "magic for children" (the matinee shows). And with the demise of vaudeville and the rise of television, children's magic has pretty much dominated the scene as birthday parties became a tradition among the populace. In the 70s and 80s, Henning and Copperfield helped to make magic "respectable" again in the United States, and magic is now one of the top venues in Las Vegas and Atlantic City... so, what's next?

Greetings Ray, and all...

I travel the world and see a lot of magic. I get to witness many magic competitions, and see the new generation of magicians coming up. I also have the pleasure of mentoring many of these new magicians. Lance Burton hosts an event every year at the World Magic Seminar for teens; there is also a competition, and a series of workshops and lectures that are specifically designed for this age group.

Eugene Burger and I are honored to be part of this program. It is our job to arrange the scheduling and special guests, and to help the teens with their competition acts, and to give them constructive feedback. It is a great pleasure to witness these young magicians onstage and off.

Every once in awhile, you see a performer with great potential, and want to do something to help them. Eugene and I thought it would be a good idea to create a webpage devoted to helping these up and coming stars of magic to get some notoriety. We created The Winner's Circle for this reason:
http://www.magicalwisdom.com/winners

Check it out, and you will see that the art of magic is in very good hands, and we have a bright future ahead of us, filled with shining stars! That's not just my opinion, but the opinions of judges and audiences that have given awards and accolades to these performers.

The next evolution for magic is right here at our fingertips, Ray. The internet is revolutionizing the way we communicate, and share our ideas on magic. All of us here at the Magic & Mystery School are exploring ways to work with this interface. In fact, if you are currently getting our Muse-Letter, you will be informed about the next step in our evolution... We plan to have a Mystery School virtual open house and cyber-session soon. This will be an online version of our School here in Las Vegas. For a sneak peek, you can actually visit the Magic & Mystery School virtual home here:
