I have been into magic now for two years and performed professionally once. I have a gig coming up and it is consisting of two thirty minute performances. I have plenty of material although I want to incorporate using a duplicate card or a different color card in the middle of my performance. I need a few suggestions for how to get these cards into the deck clean. Thanks,

Deck swap behind your magic case? Or in the pocket...there are many different variations on swapping decks you can look into.

Unless you're doing mathematical or stacked deck tricks, just leave the dupe in. Plenty of guys on here will tell you that nobody will notice it and speak from vast experience.
As for adding a contrasting stranger, here are a couple of options (incidentally, these also work for adding a dupe, if you really don't want to leave it in.) Leave the stranger in the card case for the first half. Case the deck with the stranger on the bottom, do a non card trick, then uncase the deck with the stranger. Leave the strange in your jacket pocket, reach into both pockets with the deck in one hand, ostensibly looking for something (a pen, perhaps) and add the card to the bottom of the pack. Read Paul Harris' free ride (or was it limo service?) for another option |
