Hey guys I'm learning how to juggle but I don't have anything to juggle with. What do you think of the idea of juggling with sponge balls for my kids shows to introduce the balls

Have you tried juggling with sponge balls yet? They may be a little light and hard to control, but I think it's a good idea of introducing them for your kids show.

They are light, but it might be good to have them appear one at a time then go into a little juggling act. Keep us posted

Hmm how about I have 4 2 inch sponge balls inside a card box. Then I say do you guys like card magic. If they say yes I reach my hand in and pull out 3 sponge balls if they say no I say good and pull out 3 be balls. When I pull them out I only show 2 then "split" a sponge ball in half and start juggling a bit. I drop and sponge ball and go grad it from the kid who picks it up and drop a different one again as a joke saying to stop stealing my sponge balls. Then I take the spongeballs and a kid and put 1 in my hand and put 1 in their hand and make the one I'm my hand switch to their hand. Then I take the third spongeball. I put 1 sponge ball in each hand and show that it dissapears in 1 hand so I take the third spongeball put it in the hand the 1st spongeball dissapeared and it disappears. I open my other hand and all 3 balls are there. Next I take the fourth ball out of the card box and get a spectator. (this is my finale) take all 4 sponge balls get them to put their hands together and put 4 balls in their hand. Now get another kid and give him a breakaway wand. Then I get mad at him for breaking the wand, put it in my hand it the wand is fine. Hand it to him again and it breaks again. So then I just get out another wand and wave it over the kids hand who Is holding the 4 sponge balls and we say the magic words "I hope this works" so then the kid opens their hands and 8 sponge balls come out. How's that?

Sponge balls are very difficult to juggle because they are so light weight and the least wind blows them away. Try making some beanbags from old socks and dried beans.
http://www.wizkidzinc.com/WK2009/freeComicDay.htm If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you'll see a video of Qua-Fiki (13 years old) performing outdoors with spongeballs, and having a hard time of it with even a light wind. At the end of the video, you'll see him juggling some beanbags made from colorful Dollar Store socks and filled with beans. You just half fill the socks with beans and tie off the end. Easy to make and very inexpensive, but great for learning how to juggle.

Some people juggle scarves. Rather than throw them up, you move your arms/hands to where you want them to be and then you drop them, or toss them slightly upward. They descent slowly and are pretty easy to juggle. Three 12 inch silks might work well.
If you do use sponge balls, cut a slit in them and add a small weight maybe a nut. This will weigh down the sponge balls and make them easier to juggle, but yet allow most of the standard things.

How about gettting some ball manipulation skills and then rather than producing sponge balls from the card box, maybe producing small billard balls (lacross balls, golf balls, etc.) from the card box (or a Sucrets tin). At the end put them back into the box.
Pulling stuff out of a card box is pretty routine, but gets a great response from most audience. I've pulled rope out of a jumbo card box. You routine sounds fine, it all depends on your exact routining, patter, and timing. As I go along I find that audiences are consistantly blown away from very simple things, and simple effects.

You can make a tiny incision in your sponge balls and insert a small lead fishing lure into the middle, which will give them enough weight to be juggled under optinal conditions (not too windy)...
give it a try!

Maybe hacky sacks would be a good size and weight for the kids...
