Just like to start a discussion on what your favorite manipulation routine is. By this I mean WHAT YOU ARE PERFORMING ON NOW (or working on now) and NOT what others are performing.

Let us start a list of 5 favorite routines ... in order of preference. If you don't have 5, it does not matter, you can still list down 2 - 3 routines that you are currently doing.

Here's my personal list ... in order of preference.

1) Card castle manipulation
2) Feather and silk manipulation
3) Card manipulation (regular and jumbo size)
4) Balls manipulation (regular and jumbo size)
5) Disc manipulation (assorted sizes)

What's yours?

Now I am performing routines with everyday objects. I use sleeving and if I something appear, I almost give this object to the audience. For example I am appearing lollipop, glass of liquid, rose, cigarette ...... For me it's the best way to convince audience, that I don't need any special stuff.

I enjoy card manipulation then ball manipulation.

And James, what exactly do you mean by card castle manipulation? Sounds interesting...

Rabinak, that's very much inline with Rocco Silano's philosophy -- and props! I've been thinking about how best to produce an ince cream cone during my show.

I also have a short money manipulation sequence that I'm working on.

I'm looking forward to really digging in to ball manipulation, but haven't been able to put the time in yet.

Card castles are complicated devices that can fold up like an origami box and be dramatically unfurled to resemble a built-up card castle! Look great on stage!

My stage presentations Im furiously working on are:

Card manipulations
Cigarettes
Lighters
Billiards (fakinis)
Rings

Matt, 'card castle manipulation' means card castles productions and multiplications.

It took me 6 years to develop me own versions of card castles ... they spring up automatically ... they vary in height (from 4 feet to 10 feet) and they multiply (I have two versions 1) the card castle multiply to three castle 2) a ten foot castle split to two castle. In addition I also have a huge card castle (10 - 15 feet tall) that look like the Petronas Twin Tower building and they split into TWO!

Overall I think I have constucted no less than 100 card castles to develop my own versions.

Wow James that sounds awesome! That is very interesting and must have taken a long time to make all of those. It definitely sounds like it was worth all the work.

It was worth it, Matt. This is because whenever I perform that routine the audience's response is very encouraging. But my R & D was very costly and 6 years is a long time (nearly gave up) to make sure the model perform exactly the way I want. I am still not happy with them yet.

Lots of perseverance there James, I applaud you.
I had never heard of card castle manipulations before.
You must be a true card castle guru.

Bill, it all came from an idea that pop up in my mind many years ago. And as you said, perseverance, I went through very discouraging R & D for so many years before seeing the results.

So far I have only developed one manipulation routine. I'm fond of my evolving Billiard Ball routine, but so far that's it. Thanks for asking, James.
